We are not doing what Philly does because that would be lame.
But we are pretty close.  8)

Philly may lose every game.

I think they have gone beyond tanking to just saving money on salaries.

I feel sorry for their fans.

They sure have taken tanking to a wholly different level.
It will be interesting to see the effects that continuous losses will have on these young players.
Personally, I do not think it is as psychologically destructive as it is made out to be. In the long run, it might even turn out to be a useful experience for them. The one thing I am not so sure about is Brett Brown.
About the fans, they recently had a poll on whether they would prefer Noel to score 30 or a win.
Most voted for Noel    ::)

"We are sacrificing the insatiable short-term interest of the fans in order to build a more sound structure, from the ground up, that management has had a large role in creating. Emphasis is on our core values, the capacity of which will be determined by team management. The recent moves made by our team aim to do that; we are excited to give hope for the future by way of draft picks and exciting young prospects that fans can watch develop from rookies to superstars. Once again, while fans immediate desires are unappeasable, please avoid scurrilous claims that may hamper our organization's long-term plan. We are ecstatic to pioneer a new organizational strategy, and our fans should be excited to be part of history. In what will seem like no time, our organization will be relevant, not just as a fringe playoff team, but as a legitimate championship contender. Thank you all for staying awake, and go 76ers!

PS- Or this all might blow up in our faces, we lose our franchise, and we suck for eternity."

The thing is, they're not even saving that much money on salaries.  They're below the lower limit, so, if I'm not mistaken, they have to pay their guys extra just to get up to that limit.  Hinkie just really hates winning (and Philly fans)
I'm bitter.

Personally, I am way more positive about Hinkie's experiment, but it is true that it is a very wild experiment and it really hurts the fan base.

I came across another good one today at the forums
"we need to grind through the process of self improvement before we see the tangible results of victories"  ;D
There is a touch of poetic despair in this one.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Yes, I really like the Ainge dilligent housewife metaphor.
Btw, I'm a vegetarian too, pretty lonely over here in Greece.

yes, lamb is a big item there i remember. but look on the bright side, in central asian societies such as in mongolia or kazakstan or uzbekistan they have meat in everything...sometimes even their tea.  :o

That's true. A friend recently went to Kyrgyzstan and as the honoured guest he had to eat lamb every day for two full weeks. Yikes.
Lamb with tea is a new one, is this a revered tradition of the Mongolian tribes?

"trying to improve draft odds by having an inferior team"   by this definition we are tanking.  Note this is not a legit definition and my attempt at a paraphrase which makes it next to worthless.
