Stevens: Chance Rondo Returns For Opening Night, But Nothing Determined Yet

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2014/10/17/stevens-chance-rondo-returns-for-opening-night-but-nothing-determined-yet/

Quote
But Rondo professed a week later that he would be back for opening night when the Celtics host the Brooklyn Nets on October 29.

It was a statement that not many took too serious, though it does look in recent weeks like his progression would be more on the six-week side than eight weeks.

But Celtics head coach Brad Stevens added a little more fuel to that opening night fire on Friday afternoon.

“I’d say there is a chance, but nothing has been determined,” Stevens told 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Gresh & Zolak. “We’ll get into next week and he’ll have more tests, and we’ll advance his activity as we get towards opening day. But nothing will be determined before that week.”
Tommy Heinsohn:"Worst nightmare in the NBA is Rondo with a jump shot." B-)

More quotes from the Celts med staff? Well we know what to do with those. Time to mark down Rondo for sometime in February

There's a "chance" that a lot of things will happen in life.

Doesn't necessarily mean its in the realm of possibility, though.  I'd be shocked if Rondo is starting opening night.  The timetable just isn't there yet.

"He is progressing well and I am encouraged,” said Stevens. “It looks like it’s more likely to be a shorter term rather than on the longer, initially thought eight-to-ten week idea.”

I don't know about Opening night, but still encouraging news that he's healing well.

Its a tough situation, you want to lose as many games as possible, but you also want Rondo to put up huge stats so you can trade him and get a great haul.

I think you are confused about the actual goal of this season.

Someone probably already posted it so I won't, RR had an interview with Emily yesterday,  he said that BDoo fouled him pretty hard on his hand and it didn't hurt. He said he will be ready and his hand feels good. He said he's sticking by his original timetable of opening night and if Doc Mckeon is really the best (he believes it) then his patients should have a quicker timetable than others.

S/N: I probably didn't get the name right but you get the picture.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)
