I ask you guys talking about small ball, is it really a move about "small ball" when the player going out wasn't going to sniff the floor in the first place?
Yeah with Zeller here now I don't think Anthony would see anytime baring a series of injuries to big men.

All about saving 900k, as others have said maybe they waive Bynum now who knows.

So you think they waive Bynum before they waive Pressey or Powell? I think they would rather keep Bynum, but I also know that Stevens seems to be a fan of Pressey, so there's that.

I don't know, probably Bynum being older just makes waving him that more plausible. We'll see.
Depends on what Bynum wants, if they're waiving a player to get a roster spot they could end up waving him instead if he's unhappy.

If its purely about on the court I imagine they'd wave Pressey before Bynum.

An experienced PG that is actually on the floor to work with Smart.  I think keeping him is an excellent move.  Especially with Rondo out.

Obviously.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Not likely.  The trade would probably worked out first with all the possible moving part in place.  Anthony and his expiring contract could be useful.

Wow, more guards?

We got Who's binky! :)

I wonder if Pressey is included in the deal, or Powell for that matter.

Like the idea of Bynum, he can put up some decent scoring numbers in short minutes but another guard? Its a sweet deal to save a few bucks but it doesn't cut the roster spot, so a min must be going along with him?

I would have to think Pressey is in the deal...But would Pressey and Anthony for Bynum work salarywise?

The other way you can look at it is that the money that is saved on the trade makes swallowing a guaranteed contract (like Powell of Pressey's) that much more feasible from a financial stand point.

Ah true. Good point.

Just savings & quite possibly the move Ainge was referring to when he said, "we still have things we can do before we make cuts." They obviously like guys like Powell so cutting Bynum allows you to stay under the tax line & keep another player aboard (like Powell).

I like the move but the redundancy of this roster continues to get greater.

I think we get more value with Bynum working with Smart than Joel. KO doesn't need a Canadian friend anymore

Wow. And people laughed at me yesterday for proposing a swap of Anthony for Cleveland's 3rd string center.

Roster redundancy aside, Will Bynum is a better player than Anthony. Ainge gets the better player in the deal, and saves money. Wonder if there are other details to come.

I think it's more of a move to save one of the younger guys roster spots so Anthony doesn't take it instead. Easier to do so with Bynums contract in place of Anthony's.

Still have to cut Pressey or Bynum in order to keep a Powell, etc.

I'd be worried if I were Pressey. Bynum is a better option as the backup PG.
