  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Outside of the awesome new additions you guys see here (DOS making his debut, freshinthehouse, slamtheking) I'm also happy to submit that foulweatherfan will be joining us as a Studio Head, and champkind is coming on as a producer.

WE're at an even 10, everybody! An even 10!!

I can't wait for KC and IP to ramble on and on about a bunch of shows no one else watched, but shouldn't have got cancelled because three other guys on an angelfire website agree.

I'd just like to announce that my evaluation of pitches will be based strictly on how similar they are to Scarecrow & Mrs. King.  Why mess with perfection?

I will be paying close attention , cause this sounds like real good entertainment and some serious internetting. Unfortunately I'm too busy right now to commit to playing a real part, I'll just have to maintain my coach potato status for the first ever MYOTS draft! Good luck to all of the producers!

It's an Angel and Firefly fan site that specializes in cross series fanfics, don't sully it and call it an Angelfire website.

Question: Do we have to specify what role the character will be playing when we pick them?

For example, Alan Thicke really is a man of many talents. Could definitely see him as the lead, but could just as easily be the mentor or even slide into the flex position. Heck, honestly, he could probably pull off the badass role if he really put his mind to it.

Can't decide if I want to blow all your minds with my leading man pick in the first round or wait until the later rounds.

I'm interested and wouldn't mind joining if there is still room, but I have questions.

Quote
I'm intrigued. How would you go about it?
You draft characters, not actors, so you can take both Hal from Malcolm in the Middle and Walter White from Breaking Bad, but they're two separate picks, not the same pick, and you can't pick Bryan Cranston.

So about drafting "characters," if I want the character of Hal, does Hal's back story and occupation stay the same?  Hal is basically an inept family man who works a dead end job in corporate America.

But I want to make Police Academy: The Next Generation, with Hal as one of my inept cops, but I want to make him a bachelor with a love interest who grew up in NYC, etc., but if I make those changes, he's really no longer Hal...

So how much can we change the character to fit the new tv show?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I'm like .00000004% responsible for this draft, but I"m pretty sure IP would be good with this answer; really, it's just supposed to be a fun draft.

I think the rules and guidelines are meant to be extremely loose. So you can pretty much do anything you'd like w/ these characters. Take whatever aspects of their backstory you'd like.

I could just be bad at reading threads, but when's this tenatively kicking off?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

You're not bad at reading the threads, we haven't said much about start time.

We'll start at some point on Wednesday, 2 rounds a day.

Is there any times that don't work for those who are drafting? Also, any of you drafting west coasters? Central timers? Mountaineers? Aussies? Gelgameks?

Nailed it. Hal would be pretty much perfect for Police Academy 9.

Correct, and just reinterating again, this is meant to be laid back as lemonade on sunday, so while there are "rounds", if you miss your picks, just make them at the end of the day. No worries. You will NOT be alone. There are millions of TV characters, and even if your first and second choices are taken, a third will PROBABLY be like..just as good. What's the difference between Vic Mackey and Tony Soprano afterall but a few dozen rico cases?
