They'd have LeBron and Hibbert to play all the defense.

If Cleveland does trade Waiters, they don't exactly have anyone that can play SG on the team (and Indiana can basically only send a guy like CJ Watson who is not a SG), so they would have to make another move using the T.P.E. to acquire a SG.

Would the Cavs trade Waiters, Thompson and Haywood's gnarley unguaranteed for Hibbert?

I think they would.

Waiters, Thompson, Haywood, and a minimum contract like Joe Harris (or Delladova) would work. Cavs allow Lebron to keep sideshow and add a huge defensive anchor.

Irving/Dellavedova/Price
Allen/Miller
James/Jones
Love/Matrix/Admundson
Hibbert/Varejo/Kirk

Cavs sign Allen and end up with one hell of a squad there. Pacers get a couple young potentials in their Paul Georgeless year plus a nice bit of cap room for when he returns.

Yeah, he did.

He msy not have gone there EXPECTING a ring the first season, but he went there because they were one of the few teams that had the money to pay him what he wanted (with him being no-discount-bron amd all) and as well as the ability to build a young contender around him.

If you think he went to Cleveland with the belief that he'll never win a ring with them,  think again.   The guy knew exactly what the team was planning, I assure you.
