I think Stevens selects Evan Turner to run the O.

Turner bringing the ball up and initiating things and guarding SGs and AB playing the 2 on O cutting and shooting and then hounding the opposing PG on D.

I can see an opening lineup of AB, Turner, Green, Sully and Zeller.

AB has shown that he can't bring the ball up, and I love Smart, and for Stevens this may be the perfect opportunity to hand him the keys without getting Rondo p---ed off, but I think Turner surprises some folks coming in hungry and with his experience gets the nod.

I don't see any reason not to go with Smart. I mean, he is the backup point guard. Why not try it out while Rondo is rehabbing? Turner will have plenty of time behind Bradley.

Pressey might get the start the first few games ...to make Smart at least think he has to earn a starting spot.

By game 6 or so Smart will be starting with AB

But I predict ...Turner pushes AB very hard for the number two spot ......if AB has a injury himself ...that maybe all it takes for an inspired Turner to take control.

It will be fun and painful watching these young guys ...... Wow ...Sully seems like the vet now with guys like Young on board.

I would predict Bradley and Turner. Perfect opportunity to showcase Turner. Also keeps Smart running the show with the second unit, which is his role when Rondo comes back.

We really never should have signed AB to that contract.

Now that I said what indeed to I will say this:Marcus Smart will be running point for us, and hopefully Rondo will be on the sideline coaching him up. Marcus deserves to go head to head with the other teams point guards both on offense and defense. Lets see what this kid is made of.

Pressey and ab backcourt to start.

Smart likely wont get the starting nod at the pg position right away.

AB and Thornton will start, not ideal but they are the vets, perimeter shooting will be better but getting the ball up the court could be an adventure.

why in the bloody hell would turner even be an option? he's not a PG. if Stevens decides on doing something like this he can walk. I can't stand seeing teams playing guys out of position like this. it makes no sense.

it should be Pressey unless Smart wows 'em in training camp, practice and pre-season. you don't hand the reigns over to a rookie who hasn't earned anything just because.

Smart, of course.

The kid can play. He can run the show, defend any guard out there, & he'll be the talk of the league by Christmas. Rookie of the year will be bringing up the ball & starting this offense opening night.

Smart
AB
Green
Sully
Zeller

We start off 1-0. Smart goes for 20-10.

Look at last year, Michael carter Williams did the exact same thing against the Miami Heat.

Don't think it's crazy.

Ab is not a pg. The experiment already failed last season

I agree, he is not a PG, coaches try stuff once will try it again.  Sully proved all last year, he could not shoot threes, yet Brad Stevens green lighted him.   I said it would not be ideal, but in the NBA coaches trust their vets often more than what is ideal.  They also like to repeat experiments to see if guys improved over the summer.

To answer the OP's question: I don't know if it really matters at this point—the team's gonna stink no matter who's filling in for Rondo.

Pressey should not start over Smart. But maybe he does bc Stevens wants to send Smart a message. Either way I hope Smart tears the roof off the Garden.

having skills and being something you're not are 2 different things. see Avery Bradley, Marquise Daniels, Ray Allen, Pierce...

all had some skills to play PG and did but only did because we didn't have a choice. we have 2 PG's on the roster. use 'em!
