Thought this might have some relevance here:

The Associated Press @AP
BREAKING: Law enforcement official says he sent video to attention of NFL security chief Jeffrey Miller.

The Associated Press @AP
MORE: Law enforcement official says he sent Ray Rice video to the attention of NFL security chief Jeffrey Miller: http://apne.ws/1roEHqv

That is pretty big news.  Goodell just got his fall guy.
unless of course miller shows that he turned the videos over to goodell. we can only hope.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

This graphic is my favorite thing to come out of the #freesimmons debacle.  No wait, the original podcast was pretty great.  I think my new ranking is:

1.) the podcast itself
2.) all the negative publicity Simmons' suspension brought to Goodell and ESPN
3.) that graphic

The header image is the best part.

This article is pretty amazing:

This was fun to read, but it reminds me of a reaction I read to the "GamerGate" thing: Holy crap, if even half these allegations are true, this might be the most pointless, navel-gazing, self-absorbed non-story I've ever heard!

PS if you don't know what "GamerGate" is, don't look it up, you're better off.  Go build a birdhouse or shoot around or drink a beer instead.  Or all 3.

FWIW, the ESPN ombudsman's post on this:

I tried making it through a Vox summary on this when it was in the news, and I failed.

GamerGate, what a disaster for the "journalistic integrity" of games journalists. Just a shady industry all around populated by shady people.

I'm guessing a bit of this is over dramatized, but it sounds like there is legit difference of opinion on a philosophical level. Simmons refuses to be "reigned in", but ESPN will cave to no one. Ultimately, I'm guessing Simmons chooses the money and stays. But it sure would be refreshing to see him give them the middle finger and leave the network.

the NFL does not like criticism from its public relations department, ESPN.

I am usually not a Simmons fan, but he is right about most of his points regarding the NFL

Goodell needs to be fired immediately.  As long as Goodell is in his position the NFL will have zero credibility.

curious if you know any other sports that has a higher dead time-to-action ratio?  11 min of action for a 2+ hour game?  no thanks.

Baseball. Most events during the Olympics.

Any game is a waste of time to those who don't enjoy it, you don't enjoy football *shrug*.
