I wouldn't do it.

I think this is dealing Rondo for pennies on the dollar.

I mentioned this in another thread that I think at this point, best thing to do is keep Rondo, try to extend him and hope you can bring him back.

If it doesn't look like Ainge will resign him, you can always include him in a S/T next summer as well, where the offers could be alot better.

But you can still do sign and trades with unrestricted free agents.

Yeah, my preference is to keep Rondo. I understand that MKG was recently the #2 pick of the draft, but his projected value has fallen far beneath Rondo's. The other guys are very nice bench players, but not something you give up your all-star PG for.

It's been said time and time again, but it really only makes sense to trade Rondo for a younger, future all-star - preferably a center (Cousins/Drummond would be great). I would rather the Cs give up additional players/picks in addition to Rondo for a possible upgrade than trade for lots of players.

Edit: I realize this doesn't necessarily make sense for other teams so it probably benefits all parties to wait until next summer.

I don't think Charlotte would do it.  Walker is a good matchup with Stevenson in the backcount.  Replacing him with Rondo would leave them with 2 guards that need to dominate the ball and cannot shoot from the outside.

Why?   what's your need for trading Rondo -- especially for inferior players?

no need to trade him.

as for those trade pieces -- Walker is an ok starter but to nearly as good as Rondo.  MKG and Biyombo are showing themselves as basically defensive specialists that should be coming off the bench.  not exactly what we need

One assumes that you think about trading him under the assumption that he signs elsewhere in free agency, and that 'inferior players' would still be better than 'nothing.'

Not that I agree one way or the other, but it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure it out.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

this is what Jackie was saying 75 cents on the dollar...not the greatest return for Rondo

someone has to throw in an unprotected first round pick for me to even bite.

Why would they be? Next year plenty of teams have huge amounts of cap and with the way the new CBA is structured, the days of the S&T will not be as common. There is little benefit to the team acquiring the played or the player himself.

Besides Biz I'd rather get picks and expirings back. I know it looks good,  getting young guys; but Id rather be able to sign who I want after Wallace's contract is up, and presumably we have a solid foundation set by then.

I think it's kinda a good deal in a vacuum. It's just that we don't have that many roster spots and also I'm not sure Charlotte does this for a possible one year rental and I'm not sure Rondo is up to the idea of being in Charlotte.

Will the league allow us to have a 20 man roster?  :P

To get to a 15 man roster we would have to do a 4 for 1 trade to just offset the influx of new players from this Rondo trade.  This is unlikely as that would mean trading for a star where there really isn't another star on the market right now.  That's one of the reasons why I see a Rondo trade unlikely unless if the trade is like Rondo and 2 other lesser players say for example Bass and Anthony for maybe 3 young players and maybe a pick.  It gets tricky though as you have to match salaries.
