The shows that I at one point said to myself in my head "This is the best show on tv" at one point or another were....

Simpsons
Cheers
90210
Seinfeld
Frasier
Sex in the City
South Park

Game of Thrones

Shows that didn't reach that level but were strong #2s or 3s at one point or another
Different World
Wings
Coach
Futurama
That 70s Show
Doogie Howser
Melrose Place (for like the first season when Aaron Spelling just had that one golden year and had like 5 winning shows going at the same time)
The Wonder Years
My name is Earl
Golden Girls
Dinosaurs
King of the Hill

Shows I knew tons of other people were getting into and loving that I just was not watching

Star Trek TNG
Married With Children
Desperate Housewives

Shows I watched in reruns that I was blown away by

Happy Days

Shows I watched in reruns that I sorta get why people liked
Andy Griffith Show
Leave it to Beaver
Gilligan's Island
I Dream of Genie
The Waltons
The Adams Family

There are many other shows that I watched a little and respected but aren't extremely notable

Weeds was designed for this thread.  That became a disaster.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Yep.  First season was great.  Nearly a perfect mix of comedy and emotional poignancy.  Then it tanked worse than the 2013-14 76ers.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The SyFy channel seems to be great at these types of shows. Haven, Eureka, Warehouse 13, they all tickled my fancy at some point and then got stupid.

Supernatural is one of my favorite shows. Never miss an episode. But the plot lines do seem to be continuously more ridiculous and kind of repetitive. I don't think the show could by any means be considered 'bad', but I do miss ol' Yellow Eyes sometimes.

CALLING KCATTHESTRIPE: Buffy the Vampire Slayer got pretty stupid towards the end. Honestly, how many apocalypse can one person stop? And what kind of idiot moves to Sunnydale? Property values should've plummeted expodentially every season.

I might have missed this if it's already been posted, but I'm going with Saturday Night Live. Maybe I'm showing my age but I loved that show when it first came out. It has become more and more unwatchable as the years have gone by.
I also kind of found OZ interesting the first year or so. After that, not so much.

Everybody Hates Chris was awesome.  As to the ones I've emboldened, just, no ;D

I did like your descriptions of, "anything with lawyers in it," and, "anything with zombies in it," but allow me to add another to such a list - "anything with vampires in it." ;D

What the **** is with Dr. Who?  That show sucks, and yet it never dies.  Its premise sounds interesting, but it's just terrible, imo.  Gilmore Girls?  Really, man?  I've seen almost every [dang] episode of that show and it was terrible.  How they managed to say so much, so quickly, with a small amount of oxygen is beyond me haha.  Frasier?  Hell no.  I think there was a character who described it perfectly, "I hate Frasier Crane."  The best character on the whole thing was the dad, and maybe even the dog lol.  And Sex and the City!!!!!!!??  Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!  Why do I know who Stanford Blatch is?  Why?  I really hate the E! network, what with the Kardashians, the same 20-30 Sex and the City episodes that are constantly replaying, and their horrible, "Movies We Love," that somehow invariably lead back to a bring it on cheer-a-thon all weekend long on ABC Family.  Ahhhhhhhh!

Sorry, it's just too much for me lol.  Seriously, though, guys, if you're going out with someone and are unsure what a particular chick-flick is about, just pm me.  I've practically seen them all by now.  Ugh.

Frasier was really well written. I feel like half of the gripes in this thread are based around taste, rather than quality -- Big Bang Theory is actually a really good example of that. That show is airtight. Not something I'd watch by choice, but well done.

That's like saying you admire the way Pizza Hutt has cornered the market on diarrhea pizza. Not something you'd eat by choice, but airtight.

Except for the diarrhea.

Sidebar, worst word to spell correctly then look at it and think, no, that can't be how that's spelled: Diarrhea or Colonel?

Ha!  I never even saw the show, but from all the talk that stemmed from it, that's the impression that I got, so I started saying that ;D  Fun fact - if you type that in on google it would appear that someone has made a **** parody of it (whatever that means) lol.

I'm gonna go with Colonel.  That one just makes no sense at all ;D

Skimmed briefly through the thread but South Park has to be up there. Still capable of producing hilarious episodes but far too quick to jump on the 'issue of the day' with sometimes unfunny consequences. Family Guy suffers from the same problems and includes way too many in-jokes that non-Americans don't always get.
