Plus a pick. We need to do it. They ought to do it.

They ought to do it.

What you want the Pacers to do and what they should actually do are two very distinct things.

They're not doin it.  George will go nowhere unless a legit top-10 player is involved.

I think Larry would drive to Boston and punch Ainge for thinking he 'd be this stupid.

I still think the number one reason Indy wouldn't do a George trade with Rondo/Green/prospects/picks is because of the public perception that they gave up on him when he was injured. Any kind of negative perception is enough to shut a deal like this down.

But I do agree that this kind of deal would be very good for both teams. Indy could take Boston to town with additional assets and we have them to give.

I doubt they'd trade PG alone for Green and Rondo.

Put the dust back on. If Indiana throw Paul George under the bus they harm their reputation and thus their ability to attract quality players irreparably.

I think Hibbert is more attainable, than George.

Would the perception be that bad in indy? They paid him his big contract. Would trading an injured player who is about to earn 16 million dollars rehabbing a gruesome injury and may never be the same, in exchange for healthy players who could help them get the 2nd seed in the east really going to get the fanbase that riled up?

As a matter of fact, IM not sure I would want to gamble on George at this point.

The Pacers are NOT trading George. It's best to trade for Hibbert right now.

I agree with the OP.

I do this if I am the Pacers.

David West is the heart and soul of that team. David West is 34 years old. He has a limited window here. If I am Bird I either move West or get him help immediately. Green and Rondo provide that help, and Bird learned a lesson about moving respected players like Granger and won't make the same mistake with West.

Rondo is a huge upgrade at the 1 and Green is a slight downgrade on the wing. Rondo is a proven playoff star and George not so much, and who knows how long and if George recovers fully.

I don't think that it is so cut and dry that Bird wouldn't do this.

I don't think people are taking this into account.  Valid points.

Maybe if you offer to include Sullinger and the Celtics' 2015 draft pick (top-3 protected), they'd be willing to have some negotiations.  That doesn't mean I would make the trade (I wouldn't), just that Indiana would want more value to consider this idea.
