Wow.

I get he's 32 years old, but I always thought he'd retire a Pat.

Are they that high on Wright as a TE, or are they trying to save money to resign Revis? Or both...
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

I think both although leaning more towards the money side.  They'll save $5.7 million in '14 cap space from one report I read.

I am under the impression the Pats also get a draft pick

If it's a 2nd rounder (pretty darn unlikely) then it's a phenomenal trade, especially considering almost nobody had Logan rated as a first back when he was drafted

If it's a 3rd it's a pretty darn good trade

If it's a 4th it's an above average trade

If it's a 5th it's an ok trade and Tim Wright makes all the difference

If it's lower it's not the greatest trade, but not bad.

Will also depend a lot on how they replace Mankins. If they have found the next Dan Koppen or something they're good to go. If they are going to use like a Ryan Wendell then this may come back to hurt them big time.

Tim Wright and a 4th via Sheffy.

That's about right. I hope it's not conditional, but two 4ths in the next draft will be good to have

If this ends up being one of the major driving catalysts for getting a Revis extension done then I love it.  They're also adding to some TE depth which was lacking and a 4th rounder isn't anything to sneeze at either.

However, I have some serious concerns about the OL and depth right now.

Anyone want to make a bet that Hernandez winds up on the Ravens if he's found innocent?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I like it - 3 biggest games of Mankins career ( two super bowls and last year's AFC title game ) he got destroyed....Tuck manhandled him in those two super bowls and I actually believe he was one of the main reasons they didn't win.  I feel like good Guard play is easy to find, getting a hybrid TE that can catch is a little more difficult and like someone said early if this paves the way for Revis, then all the better.  Mankins is a little overrated in my eyes....

I just heard yesterday on radio the OL was getting crowded. It was getting to the point that recent draft pick Bryan Stork was going to have to go on IR (whereas now maybe he could go to the PUP list till week 7 or even play sooner) or another decent young OL was going to have to go to the practice squad where another team could pick him up (it happened before when they drafted Ted Larsen in the 6th out of NCState in 2010...they waived him and were likely to try to hide him on the practice squad but the Bucs grabbed him where he played all 16 games).

While Mankins has had a very nice career with the Pats, I agree about the playoffs. That 2007 line in general was the sole reason that team will not go down in history as the best of all-time. We talk about disappointing Celtic championship games, but that is easily the the worst one in Boston sports history.

As for the trade, it makes a lot of sense. Mankins is getting older, we get a solid pick, we save money, and we get a decent replacement for Hernandez. Edlelman was incredible in the Welker role last year, but the passing game is at its best when it is more dynamic.

Sack total jumped from 2-10 and he gave up 21 hurries as well....don't want him getting to old on your dime, bring in the hybrid WR and try and duplicate the double TE sets they had when Hernandez was here....

I don't know if he was slipping or just too many small injuries effecting his game but his cap # didn't reflect his play on the field. And Wright is another Rutgers player so given Pats recent run on them I won't get excited.
