  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Philippines of to s blistering start.

They can outrun this Argentina team, and that's what they are doing.

another heartbreaking loss. Pingris really hobbled, chot shouldve taken him out and put De Ocampo instead. He was boxing out well but had no lift to take the rebounds.

Pingris should sit. I love his heart but he is outclassed in this tournament.

Chot Reyes is driving me insane. Last game against Greece, he had a good playing Fajardo sitting down. This time it was Ranidel sitting down when he's playing well.

But in the end, when they play lazy defense, there's nothing they can do.

After going to down to Slovenia, Australia thrashed South Korea. Playing Lithuania next who will likely beat us comfortably.

Getting past the group stage looking pretty unlikely.

Biggest positive for me has been the excellent form of Aron Baynes. He absolutely deserves another NBA contract, hope he gets it.

If Baynes comes cheap, I hope the C's get him. More of a pipedream though :(

His game is somewhat similar to Tiago Splitter, is it not?

3rd very good game in a row, this time against Lithuania of Valanciunas, DoMotiejunas and Lavrinovic. He was a lot more mobile than I thought.

If he comes cheap, and somehow roster spot is cleared, I'd be happy to have him on the team.

Yep looks like I spoke too soon, awesome win over our old nemesis Lithuania 82-75.

Good old Joe Ingles :)

Splitter's probably not a bad comparison for Baynes. Splitter is better on the defensive end though Baynes is a better free throw shooter. There's not really a spot for him on the Celtics though, would have to get rid of Faverani and/or Anthony.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The fact that San Antonio is waffling on what to do with Baynes is enough of a benchmark for me as to whether or not he's worth a real pursuit by Boston. They've really only got Jeff Ayers backing up the frontcourt, and that dude is the definition of consistent but unremarkable.

As far as I heard they have tendered a QO of 1,1 mil/1 year deal. It is him who is checking if the open market can offer more. SA can still match whatever offer is out there.

Exum has not looked great thus far, to all the guys who wanted him drafted, perhaps there was a reason he was hid from the world for a year.

Thank the heavens we did not take him.

Goran Dragic accused Australia of a tank job to avoid the US as long as possible in the knockout stages:

Quote
On Thursday at the half Australia is up by 10 at the half over Angola and realizes if they win this game they will finish second in Group D no matter what. So the Australian coach benches everybody good — I’d call that “going the full Popovich” except the Spurs often win those benching games. Then the rest of Australia’s guys play just sloppy, terrible basketball in the second half. Angola is motivated because with a win they have a chance to make the knockout stage (if Mexico loses to Korea). Angola comes from behind and wins.

(By the way: Australia “tanking” involved them playing a lot of Dante Exum. He has not impressed this tournament, barely playing for the Aussies.)
