As I mentioned in another thread I had a vision while driving.
Long and short was a team with rondo, ibaka and Monroe winning a few titles.

Question for ya'll is would a team built around these 3 be good enough to win?
Ibaka's a FA At end of 2017 season.
At that time rondo will be 32(ish)
Monroe would be 27(ish)
If either smart or young pan out we would really only need to fill one role (A big one), a first/second option scorer.

We would have 5 picks before ibaka is available to fill that role and cap room to work with.
Rondo
Smart/young
GTS
Ibaka
Monroe?
I like
Do you?

Doubtful. Not a talented enough Big Three to lead a team to a Championship.

Need a heck of a lot of support around them.

Missed that line first time around. That makes it more of a Big Four than a Big Three. And yes, I think that could win a Championship if 1st scoring option is talented enough. Also, if Smart pans out, plus a 1st scoring option, you would have 5 stars rather than a Big Three.

If young puts it together and plays D he is a triple threat (3, midrange, rim)
He would stretch the floor and benefit from rondo and Monroe feeding him.
If smart puts it together he is a great 2way combo guard
All can run, good passers at 3, positions (plus Oly of the bench)

Great d from smart and ibaka
Is a good/great mix of skills

Think a slight upgrade over greens production would nail down contender status.

While I would be satisfied with those players on the Cs, I don't see how they win a championship. Even if you say Rondo and Westbrook are comparable, Monroe is no Durant. If Ibaka can't do it with OKC, I don't know how he does it here.

Also, I sure as heck don't want to wait until 2017. A trade would surely need to be completed before then.

But yes, I am all about improving our team with some athleticism in the front court.

I think this is a little three as well, a good but not great team.
