Great pick up for them.  Marion has been a really good all around player for a long time.

Might not seem like it, but that's a huge upgrade from last season's Battier.  Allowing LeBron to play PF is the most important thing.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

this is proof that the magic of picking up free agents was with lebron, not pat riley. riley wasnt a genius for picking up all those players, it was all lebron's doing.  pat riley skills are picking up burned out granger and mcbob.

another decent pick up for the cavs. theyre almost a completely different team now.

That sucks. I wish Marion went somewhere else. Don't like the Cavs.

I would like to see Marion start too rather confine himself to a bench role like he has done with the Cavs. Marion still has enough left in the tank to be playing 30-32mpg on a contender. Disappointing to see him pass up on that in order to get 15-25mpg as a bench player to team up with LeBron.

That forward rotation is looking very packed with LeBron/Marion at SF and K-Love/T-Thompson at PF. Cavs must be planning on playing K-Love or T-Thompson significant minutes at center behind Varejao in order to get all those forwards decent playing time. Oh boy and they have Mike Miller and James Jones as well, don't they? As third stringers? Wow. That is one loaded deep forward rotation.

Cavs are gonna be a real deep team....Pacers must be unhappy, guessing that they're gonna pursue a starting SF for this year very strongly now.

The championship is already decided.  Everybody else is just coming along for the ride.

I agree completely.  There's not a plethora of cheap veterans who can play 32 minutes for 76 games on a contender and average 10 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, and a steal on 48% shooting, 36% from 3, with above average defense.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

In the East, I thnk they can get away playing significant time with Love at C and James and Marion at the two forward spots.  Most team just do not have the offensive threat at C to keep them from doing that.  Rebounding will be strong.

I guess here's hoping Marion goes the way of Jason Terry after he came to the Cs. I liked both players (a lot) in their primes. Marion's years as a #1 fantasy threat were ridiculous.

I guess RAy Allen signs next.  They are just loading up around James .

If he gets hurt ,  then all these players aren't winning no rings . Like Kobe for so many years, he  is playing on borrowed time,.

Doesn't this help us perhaps move Jeff Green to Indy??:-))))  They were counting on Marion with the injured player exception, but they are out of luck with that now:-)))

Thoughts??

The messiah is still pretty young.  He's got 5-6 years at this level left in him.  These guys probably aren't winning no rings with him anyway.  Apparently the messiah is only going to be officiated by no rules in the regular season.  Love is a defensive sieve.  And Varajao, the only defensive big they have... can't stay healthy.

Larry Bird publicly said that Indiana's owner wasn't willing to pay the luxury tax.  They may have been able to sign Marion if they were willing to commit the full exception, but they only offered something like $1.7 million of it because they wanted to stay under the tax line.
