To NOR: Rondo, Bass, CJ
To us: Holiday, Asik, a 1st

Why NOR: They were interested in Rondo mid-season. He'll fill the ball to Davis. Anderson fits better than Asik next to Davis.
Why BOS: We were interested in Asik. Holiday is a young all-star. We also get a pick.
We have:
PG: Holiday, Smart, Pressey
SG: Bradley, Thornton
SF: Turner, Green, Young
PF: Sully, KO
C: Asik, Zeller

If Sully is not in shape, Green could start at the 4.
Thoughts?

Depending on how Marcus Smart progresses Holiday may not even start. I have faith in Smart.

The major flaw is that they're high on the bigman rotation of Asik/Davis/Anderson. That's probably the best big rotation in the league next year. They give that up to fill a position that doesn't need filling?  Really doesn't make sense for them.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Not an unreasonable deal the way it's laid out, but it would all look pretty costly for New Orleans if prior trades are tallied.

Holiday cost Noel & Saric (2 lottery picks with high upside)
Asik cost a future 1st

Add in 1 additional first rounder, and N.O. would have paid 4 first rounders (and at least 2 lotto picks) to get Rondo on the last year of his contract. It seems like they'd rather stick with their guns and the guys they picked.

that does put some perspective on the cost but most of that 'overpayment' is due to the Philly deal, not Rondo.

I don't like the deal personally.  Rondo is much better than Jrue and while Asik fills a hole at center, he's a big 0 on offense.  the first from them will not be in the lottery unlike the ones that went to Philly.  I would also think that the biggest negative for NH is that they lose a true center for a backup PF in Bass that would not reasonably allow them to give David much of a rest --> Anderson & Bass would not make a good pairing on D or the boards
