Good to read that the coach is emphasizing defense.

Also good to read that the stereotype the team is fighting is of being too mellow:

A tougher, more aggressive KO, especially on the defensive end, is just what the C's need coming into the season.

that's good news

I expect him to improve over last year. Maybe into the starting roll over Bass permanently averaging something like 14-15ppg and 7-8 rpg

What is Kelly Olynyk ceiling?

Thats excellent news. Will build more confidence for KO in the long run. That, ornit will raise his draft stock. lol. Either way, thats great news.

What is Kelly Olynyk ceiling?

Imagine if Luis Scola could hit a spot up three consistently.

He is a better passer and he is 7 feet tall, which is a huge deal.  That makes his ceiling significantly higher.

I don't know if the exact height measurement makes such a huge difference, since KOs arms are pretty short.  I think you're underselling Scola's passing, too.  Kelly has to gain a lot of strength before he can match Scola's post game  as well.

But I agree, Kelly can be more versatile if he reaches his potential, and the three point shot is a major weapon to have.  Makes it far easier to find minutes for Kelly despite his defensive shortcomings.  And simply being a couple inches taller might give KO a psychological advantage, if nothing else.

you could run an offense through kelly with his passing ability
i think given starters minutes he's 15 and 10, it is surprising at what a good rate he rebounded at last year

You really believe that Kelly Olynyk is going to average 14-15 points per game? How many Celtics averaged that many points per game last year?

Last year In the 35 games that he played at least 20 minutes in he averaged 12.3 in 25.6 minutes.  If they gave him a few more minutes, even if he doesn't improve he should get to 14 points.  I like to think he will be better then he was in his rookie season so 14-15 points should only depend on the minutes he plays.

If KO averages 14/7 I will be stunned.  I think it's on the brink of being possible, but that would be crazy for the season.   He really needs to work on his defense though

I think we'll see 16/6/4.

I expect he'll play outside a little more than usual, so his rebounding could not be the best - but he'll show off the passin game.

I've already offered a TP wager, with the prediction that KO will average at least 14/7 if he averages at least 25-30 mpg this season.  I'd love to see Bass traded for another asset so we can open up time for our young bigs.

Want to bet against KO or for him? ;-)
