why don't GM's do bogans-style non-guaranteed deals more often? you overpay a guy for one season (he knows he'll likely be traded, but he's getting a much bigger check than usual), then add on extra non-guaranteed years, and bingo, you have a valuable asset, instant cap space to any team you trade to. and every year there are teams desperate to clear cap space in the hopes of landing some big fish, i wonder why rebuilding teams don't do this tactic more often.
utah absorbed some contracts from golden state a year ago and got a 2 1st-round draft picks and 3 second-rounders. golden state used the cap space to sign iguodala. so utah got 5 picks for an aging, borderline star - it just shows how valuable cap space can be, i wonder if more GMs will catch on.
