Definitely some gems here, the idea is essentially interviews with draftees about their play vis a vie how they appear to be playing courtesy of some of the more advanced measures. Of course, a lot of the answers are pretty phoned in (well coached, these young gentlemen and future youtube stars), but its still an interesting thing to look at.

KP: Your steal and block rates were low in college. Was that by design as part of the system you played?

DM: Yeah. I wasn't asked to guard a lot of their top guys. I was guarding primarily guys who weren't scoring as much, so I was asked to be a really good helper. I didn't want to get in foul trouble, so I rarely went for blocks or I didn't take many chances going into passing lanes -- we didn't really do that anyway; we played a gap-type defense. My numbers are really low. It's kind of funny looking back, but it worked for us.

BD: According to video analysis metrics, you scored pretty well on defense in isolations, but not so well overall. How good of a defender can you be at the NBA level?

JP: I think I've been doing a really good job on defense lately. Especially defending the post, and defending the ball screens. I even did that at Duke. It's one of the underrated aspects that I have that people overlook. Because if I play really good defense, I'll also have the ability to score. I was really big on that end for my team, because if I don't show up, we don't win. I think that's one of the underrated parts of my game, that I'm continuing to work on.

KP: Do you think your steal rate sets you apart from other shot blockers?

NN: I guess you could say that. I like to get out on pick-and-rolls and if the point guard tries to split the screen, I think I'm very capable of picking his pocket. I think it gets us on the fast break, gets us going and creates a lot of opportunities for a team like us that really strives for a high pace.

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.
