Right now it looks like Cleveland is unwilling to give us Wiggins in any deal for Kevin Love. Still, Love has a lot of power in determining where he will go. So he could insist that he won't re-sign with any other team except Cleveland which would bring down the asking price Minny could get for him elsewhere.
The Celts' can help their case similarly if they can convince Kevin Love to want to come to Boston. Right now all they have is Rondo, maybe Jeff Green, and a bunch of young prospects. That's not too appealing if I'm Kevin Love. It's the same way KG may have looked at the Celts in 2007 when all they had was Paul Pierce and bunch of picks/young players. But when Danny traded for Ray Allen it made the C's look a lot more appealing and KG agreed to re-sign with the Celts if he were traded there.
So who could be the new "Ray Allen" for the 2014 Celtics? Either a SG, SF, or C? It needs to be someone that Danny could trade for that has been and still could be at least an All Star. Roy Hibbert is an All Star (reserve) that could be looking for a new home? Although he is frustratingly inconsistent. Marc Gasol could be had, if the Grizzlies believe he may leave in free agency. If the Celts offered Olynyk, cap fodder, and the Clippers/Cavaliers 1st that might do it. And it would still leave plenty of assets to make a trade for Love... if Love pressed to go to the C's.
There's really no one out there that fits the qualifications of having been an All-Star over the past four seasons that is on a team that would be willing to deal them. Every team that has had an All-Star over the past four years was a playoff team last year except for the Knicks and the Suns. So all of those teams are very likely going to want to hold on to their stars, unlike the Sonics back in 2007 who were more than willing to trade Ray Allen and go on a youth movement.
