Nice job by Miami so far...resigning Chris Bosh, signing Luol Deng, Danny Granger, and Josh McRoberts...

Really? They overpaid by about 40M for Bosh. Remember their initial offer was way less so they could add talent, they overpaid because the Rockets threat was real. McRoberts was another questionable deal. He solves none of their rebounding or post defense needs. Deng is a decent signing at 10M because it's only for 2 years, but Thibs really ran him into the ground so his game has deteriorated as a result (he's been shooting in the low 40's from the field the last 3 seasons. Granger is done, but that was a relatively cheap deal.

Riley is 69 and doesn't want to do the whole rebuild, even though it's needed. Instead, he signed up for max money Bosh from ages 30-34 and Wade for what will also be multiple years. It's a makeshift roster looking for the quick fix trying to salvage one of the worst off-seaons ever.

Yes a good off-season haul (other than the obvious loss). If Granger can come back to more than a shadow of his former self and Deng is just good, they will be in the mix. Somebody said 4-seed max, that seems about right

Cle, Chi, Indy, Mia. See what happens with the NY teams.

The only way Miami can be seen as any kind of threat is if Wade can prove he can be healthy...Which, at this point, is a long shot.

Fact is, they lost LeBron and Allen, replacing them with Deng and Granger respectively.  Bosh is still a '4' stuck playing the '5' and McRoberts is an OK offensive piece. If Miami finishes 4th in the East this year, that should be considered a win.

Yahoo Sources: Miami, Luol Deng agree on 2-year, $20M deal. http://yhoo.it/1mxVeWQ

Pretty cool pick up from the Heat. If they played the Cavs in the playoffs that would be great.

Rule of thumb, if the news is more than 10 minutes from when you see it... chances are someone already posted here about it lol :)

i would have thought he would get more per year since its only 2 years. 2 years between 26 and 30 would have been my guess or 3 years at 37.5

One more piece and Miami is basically back to the level they were at last year.

Yeah that one piece now plays for Cleveland and I don't think it is replaceable with anyone else, so no but sorry, they will never be back at last year's level.

I think it's funny how Bosh's ability has apparently grown to mythic levels since he's been playing Bron and Wade's caddy the last 4 years.  The best Toronto ever did with him was 47-35 and the East wasn't exactly super tough back then either.  But now him, a Wade who's either going to miss one-third of the season or probably implode and a Deng who had his rims run off by Thibs is supposed to be a top 4 team?

Mike

In the East?

Probably so.

7th or 8th seed at best in the West.

Although, now that I think about it. Miami probably can't get a top 4 seed.

Cleveland is the fav for the Central division with Indiana and Chicago right there.   Someone will have to win the Atlantic. This means if Miami can't beat Washington for their division, it will be difficult to pass both Indy/Chi. Depends on Rose, and whether Indy implodes after last season's late season swoon.

Will put this here since I doubt anyone cares all that much:

Marc Stein ?@ESPNSteinLine
Mario Chalmers is returning to the Miami Heat on a two-year deal, sources tell ESPN
