As for the fit, I'm not sold. Is Gasol going to chase opposing stretch fours out to the perimeter? Or will that be Noah's job?

He's not as skilled as Gasol, but I liked Gibson's complementary game at PF. Good defense, and developing offense.

Pau Gasol ?@paugasol
It hasn't been easy. After meditating it a lot I've chosen to play with the Chicago Bulls. Looking forward to this new chapter of my career

If it's not a sign-and-trade, at Woj hinted it may not be, that would mean they're Amnestying Boozer, or finding a home for him to be dumped.

Bulls can't aggregate Randolph's salary, and they'd be foolish to include Butler in a deal.

Can't they just sign Gasol to the MLE?

Supposedly no S&T is involved, which means he probably chose the offer that was about $6.5M per year. This means they either found a suitor for Boozer, or amnestied him.

So in other words, a Chicago Vs. Cleveland eastern conference finals is essentially a guarantee?

I don't see Pau Gasol as much of an improvement over Boozer. Small gains.

if true, very interesting. i thought SA was courting gasol as well, and if gasol is willing to work for less, i wonder why he did not choose SA?

I like it. East should be better this year.

Pacers

Heat
Cavs

should be a good 4 team race

Chicago could still offer more because San Antonio could only offer the mid-level exception, which fits in the $5M range. Beyond that, after being horribly misused and mistreated in his last few years in LA, he made it clear that interest and fit were his main priorities. Chicago showed more interest, and would also be able to play him more minutes than San Antonio likely would have.

The problem with Pau and Howard was that Pau's much better as a center at this point in his career.  He's gonna have the same problems with Noah I think, especially on D.

Seeing what salary he got, it's too bad he didn't S+T to Golden State for their TPE before it expired.  Would've been a good fit at a higher salary.

im not sure how I see the fit with gasol and the bulls actually. he is a good scorer which is something they need.

BUT, the bulls are first and foremost a defensive minded team....gasol plays no defense. unless THibs hopes noah/butler will cover up for him.
