At the moment a lot of Celtic-fans are high on Zeller we must admit that he might not be good enough to be a starting C on a playoff-team.

At the same time we are a rebuilding team.

New York have a huge problem on SF if they lose Melo. At the same time they are desperate to get rid of Stoudemires huge contract and low contribution.

That's why I have come up with this trade that might be a bit unrealistic but put in a pick and it might work.

Next step would be to resign Pierce, and make Young the backup on SF.

The trade would also give us the opportunity to have a lot of options in a year with even more expiring contracts!

Let's just go with no.

The knicks want cap space next summer. There is no way they take on Wallace's contract.

Agreed -- I would be happy to do the trade if they were willing to do so though. It'd be worth it to get rid of G-Wallace's contract. Also becoming quite pessimistic about holding onto Jeff Green next summer given the contracts that are being handed out to Parsons and Hayward this summer. So more willing to deal J.Green than I would have been previously.

Yes. We'd be in full on tank mode again this year, and would have a ton of free space to use next summer (or, contracts to use in deals at the Feb deadline).

Of course Ainge would do this.  Not because Amare/Bargnani are desireable.  It's basically trading crap for crap but the crap the Celtics would get expires a year before the Knicks' crap expires.  No way Phil Jackson would consider this.

Green is not a throwaway player despite what some people believe.

The worry is that he'll opt out next summer and Cs will get nothing for him. So, trade him now.

I understand that perspective, but in this trade scenario, we get nothing for him. 1 less year of Gerald Wallace is not worth it at all. If Green has that miraculous break out season, we retain his Bird Rights and get the production this season. If we trade him now, let's get a viable replacement, pick, etc. Not expiring players who haven't been near their best for several years.

That's a dumb trade for New York. They want flexibility. Stoudemire and Bargs expire after next season. Wallace and Green are not. Plus there is not one celtic player in the trade who worth a [dang] except Green and to a lesser extent Bass.
