Min in: Rondo, Anthony

Bos in: Rubio, Martin, Dieng, Robinson III, 2015 2nd

Why we do this: Rondo won't resign, Smart won't be ready by year 1 so Rubio will lead the team, Dieng can be our starting C until Fav get better. We also get a serviceable KMart who wasn't bad last year & Robinson III.

2015 C's team:
PG: Rubio, Smart, Pressey
SG: Bradley, Kmart
SF: Green, Young, Robinson
PF: Sully, Oly, Moser
C: Dieng, Fav, Bass

Thoughts? :D

I wouldn't do it.

My feeling is unless we get Love, then we should not give Flip Saunders any kind of satisfaction.

Plus, without Love, I'd hate to take on Martin's contract. I am not as fussy about cap space but I just think Martin's contract would be an eye sore on the Celts books for a few years.

Also, if I may ask, is this Dieng guy any good?

I notice alot of people have proposed getting him in a trade.

Is he the next Bill Russell? ;)

I really like this idea perhaps substitute a player for a 1st round pick.

I really really like deing. he was nearly rookie of the year. People who say  they don't want to give flip saunders any sanctification. i get where your coming from but we are getting the better deal I think because flip saunders is desperate to keep love.So he will overpay.

This is not the worst idea I've ever heard. I really wanted Gorgui Dieng last year in the draft. Thought he was a no brainer pick after seeing him at Louisville for a couple years. True center height, with an ideal defensive body type.

Rubio could be a fill in for now and a bit of a reclamation project. Maybe he improves?

Robinson III has talent. Whomever has better upside between him and Shabazz . . . plus a pick. Not a bad return at all.

Martin doesn't do much for me.

@gpap Lol, no. But he might be the defensive center we lacks of. He didn't played a lot this year but was impressive in the few minutes he got. He pulled down 5rpg in 13.6 mpg. Size is here, he can block some shots & he even had some highlights vs Houston. If He get more mins than he had this year he can be better.

@Hawkeye199 Yes. Dieng is a talented big man but didn't played a lot last year, Rubio is a better pg than people think, Robinson has talent, Martin can be a solid third offensive option in any team & an instant option in ours. The 2nd rounders have some value & if we lucky we could get a Manu Ginobili type of player in the draft. We can still make Flip give more.

Celtics get: Kevin Martin, Demarcus Cousins
Wolves get: Rajon Rondo, Ben McLemore
Kings get: Ricky Rubio, Gorgui Dieng, Avery Bradley, Jared Sullinger, regain their second rounders

The Kings get a young center, a talented youngster at point, a lockdown defender, a promising post player, and don't worry about losing picks (they probably aren't worried, but still).
The Wolves bring in someone to help convince Love to stay. Rondo would bring out the best in McLemore and would likely be able to drag that team to the playoffs.
The Celtics get a legitimate center that could end up a dominating force if he keeps his head screwed on tight. They have to take on Martin's contract which isn't ideal but he can score the ball for the time being. They also clear a spot for Smart so he can get minutes. I think Cousins would be much better behaved in a stronger organization known for winning like the Celtics.

PG: Marcus Smart, Phil Pressey
SG: Kevin Martin, James Young
SF: Jeff Green, Gerald Wallace
PF: Brandon Bass, Kelly Olynyk
C: Demarcus Cousins, Victor Faverani

I think Minnesota is more interested in trading Pekovic than Dieng.

I've said this before, but I could see this happening...

DA sends Rondo to Minni.

Rondo talks up Boston to Love.

Next summer they both pack their bags waving the #1 sign to Flip and Minni and head to Boston.

They meet up with DA were he slips them both each a key to a new home, and an envelope of unmarked bills, Rondo's slightly bigger for being a good sport, and with a wink they walk their separate ways until training camp... 8)

Now this I would LOVE to see.

And waiting a year might be worth it
