absolutely not. Would've traded him for #7, but not for another PF who doesn't play D.

Julius Randle is a sure thing. Just like Smart and Parker, he has weaknesses, but that's not the same thing as being risky. Shaq was a bad free throw shooter. Karl Malone couldn't hold on to the ball. Nash couldn't defend.

If we really are on a total-rebuild trajectory, I'd take that deal. I'd be frustrated, because there's a lot of redundancy between Sullinger and Randle in terms of their greatest strength-battling under the basket- and their greatest weakness- defense. I don't think a better deal is coming along, though.

His skill set is about the same as Sullys for that reason it doesn't make sense to me.

Have the Celtics ever traded anybody to the Lakers?

Seems...wrong, to me

No.

Didn't Randle skip his workout with the Celtics prior to the draft on Wednesday for a GQ appearance?

No thanks.

I don't want to just give Rondo away.

And to think some didn't like Jeff Goodman's idea of dealing Rondo and Olynyk to Denver for Lawson, Faried and their 2014 1st rounder.

Actually he said he skipped because he felt they seen enough of what he could do...which is WORSE.
Randle did have one workout with the Celtics.  The Celtics wanted to bring him in for a second workout which Randle declined.  Nothing wrong with that.

Don't forget the Travis Knight for Tony Battie deal. This one actually worked out very well in our favor - man, I was not a fan of Knight.

As for the OP's trade, I am not a huge fan - I love Rondo and I don't want to make LAL better (and possibly compete for a championship). It also seems like a disservice to Rondo. For Randle and a future first, it seems reasonable on the surface, though we would probably need to swing Sully and a first for a real impact center.

I'd trade rondo for unprotected future firsts to teams that you assume will stink in 4 years time.

I'm all for trading Rondo if we can't get a star or two to put next to him, however, there is no way I'd trade Rondo for Randle. I think Randle has a lot more Brandon Bass in him than he does Zach Randolph.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Yes, for Randle and a future 1st. We may have 2 PF's already (Sullinger and Olynyk), but we are not married to either. In this case. we're collecting another asset and later we can make the decision to trade and keep whichever one(s) we'd like. Plus, I really don't want this Rondo re-signing malarkey to drag on all year.
tp. People think we are married to Sully and KO. We are engaged to both but Sully is cheating on us with Eddy Curry and Krispy Kream franchise.

Yeah. He's Brandon Bass if Brandon bass couldnt shoot.

Maybe getting Vonleh would be easier. Something including Jeff Green.

Just because he did not shoot does not mean he can not shoot. When your on a championship team sometimes you have to sacrifice part of your game. And its not like anyone was stopping him down low anyway, so why even move out to shoot.
