  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Wonder if we could take Asik and Lin off their hands for Parsons & Ross.
They're going to need the cap room for Melo and a better pg. This idea assumes we already have Love.
Parsons & Asik both expiring but it gives us a great squad moving forward in a weak eastern conference & we can keep whichever guy we like more...or keep both if the price is right.
We get Ross instead of a pick as a great asset off the bench who is cost controlled for 2 years.
Strong playoff team as an experiment which keeps Rondo+Love happy and gets Parsons excited about playing with Love+ Rondo for free agency.

Boston gets: Asik, Parsons, Lin, T Jones.
Houston gets: Brandon Bass, 2015 Celtics pick+ faverani +Biyombo + TPE ( now sign Melo)
Charlotte gets: Jeff Green, 25th pick (Houston's).
Orlando gets:2016 Clippers pick+ PHILA 2015 picks from Boston+Montejunas+ filler short term.

Starting five:
Rondo
Afflalo
Parsons
Love
Asik

Bench:
Jones
Lin
Olynyk
17th pick
Veterans

*Rockets can now sign Melo and get Bass off the bench with Faverani as a backup big & biyombo as a nice young defensive project behind Dwight. They give up their pick this year but get back a Celtics pick. They have Melo and Parsons is redundant & leaving after this season. Our cement prize iis Jones and a great young, fun team that we can experiment with before the 2015 off season.

*Magic get a first round pick & the Philly pick for their veteran SG.

*Charlotte Hornets get a great piece in Jeff Green to run the wing and spread the floor, whilst getting an extra first round pick. Biyombo is replaceable with Al Jeff there now too.

We still have our Brooklyn picks and our own 2016 first rounder but we now have Terrence Jones. We could probably swing it so we get Biyombo too (depending how badly Morey wants Melo).
Parsons, Asik and Lin come off the books (about $14-15 million) in 2015-16 when there are some very big free agents looking for a championship opportunity.

I'm ok with but where are Humph, Pressey, Bayless, Iverson? How did you get rid of Wallace?

Eh, I get them confused all the time.  Mentally I just think of Houston Terrance and Toronto Terrance.  Toronto Terrance is better, and that's all I know.

What are the restrictions on using the TPE with other players?  From what I recall, you could only combine draft picks and cash with the TPE in a trade.

You can include salaries in a deal that involves the TPE, but only if they aren't being combined to bring back a player whose contract exceeds the TPE.

For example, Houston could trade Asik and Lin to Boston for Bogans and unguaranteed filler contracts because Asik fits into the TPE and Lin matches Bogans and the filler.

Boston could not use the same package to acquire Carmelo Anthony via a sign and trade for a new contract worth $15 mil.

He and Melo plays the same position, if I am DA I ask for it.   We all doing them a solid so they can get Melo they should do us one as well.

Wouldn't the Asik/Lin scenario be considered two separate trades?

I don't see Houston moving Parsons and Jones just to unload salary. They can do better than that.

Also FWIW I'd prefer T Jones over T Ross. Ross averaged 11 and 3 and is super one-dimensional at this point in his career. Jones averaged 12 and 7 with 1.3 blocks in close to the same minutes, and is actually the younger player.
