Just saw this:

Quote

The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly exploring the possibility of creating enough cap space to sign LeBron James should he explore leaving the Miami Heat.

The Clippers could create cap space by trading away DeAndre Jordan and Jamal Crawford, while unloading Jared Dudley by attaching a future first round pick.

James is close friends with Chris Paul and those two would form a new Big 3 along with Blake Griffin.

There have previously been reports that the Heat could be amenable to a sign-and-trade if Griffin were to be traded.

James may elect to opt-in for the 14-15 season, which would allow him to have more options while seeing if the Heat can make one more run as currently constructed.

DeAndre makes about 11 mil a year.  Couldn't we attach picks to the Pierce trade exception and absorb his salary... thus allowing the Clippers to free up room for LeBron?

Shall we add him to the pipe dream list of true centers along with Asik, Gortat, and Sanders?

I think his salary needs to be under the TPE and not a penny over.  Am I right?

If I'm not, then I would still prefer Asik, but I wouldn't have an issue with helping dismantle the Heat. If we could make another impact/win soon trade all the better. East just got way worse and the West  that much tougher.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

There's a $100k buffer, I believe.

Realty check I think they would want to keep him to stay viable with Bron.  But he is the likeliest of the big pay guys to get cut.   I would rather have him than Gortat or Asik I think but I doubt we can afford it without going over the cap ourselves.   Love, Jordan and Rondo isn't going to get it done, folks.

Rondo, love, Jordan, green and a knockdown 3 PT shooter at 2 is good enough for 2-4 seed.

Also anyone know if TE can be combined with other pieces in a trade?

Just curious if that is good enough for a 2-4 seed who is the 1 seed? If Miami loses LeBron it won't be them. After the playoffs, I have no faith in Indiana so I think that lineup could compete for the top spot.

I personally would use the TPE and throw in two firsts to get DeAndre.

Jordan's salary is too high to use the TPE.

a 1st round pick, maybe with some player fillers, my somewhat of a dream scenario

Rondo/Bradley/Melo/Love/Jordan

probably will never happen, but hey NBA is over for the summer, gotta dream right :D

According to HoopsHype, he makes $11,440,123 in 2014-15 (and just under $11,000,000 in 2013-14) so it would have to be 'this' year if we were to acquire him with the Pierce TPE.

And, yes, I would love love love to have him on the Cs. We discuss advanced metrics to describe how great Asik is defensively - those metrics aren't needed when discussing DeAndre. He is super-athletic, grabs a ton of rebounds and gets blocks with ease. If it takes an extra pick or two, I am all for it.

I'd certainly take him, I don't know if I'd send 2 picks for him unless I knew there were going to be low picks. He's a great player for a contending team to give them size and athleticism but his contract is onerous for any other situation.

This would be an absolute dream scenario come true for me. I don't see it happening though.

I don't really see how 11 mil for a player averaging 14 rebounds a game and 2.5+ blocks a game as a defensive game changer is all that terrible.

this is nonsense

The clippers would have to move

Jordan
Reddick
Crawford

just to have enough to offer a max contract .

That's not happening

If they want Lebron , it will be a Blake Griffin and filler for Lebron .
