Celtics trade #17, 2015 phili pick and Jeff Green

to

Bobcats for #9, Neal and Biyombo

In a non-love situation this deal would potentially allow the Cs to draft Gordon #6 and Stauskas #9. These two complement each other and the current Cs players very well. Neal and Biyombo are both expiring. Biyombo may actually be a nice bench player for the Cs as his game compliments KO and sully very well.

For the Bobcats they got a taste of the playoffs last season. Adding Green gives them a 3rd scorer to Big Al and Kemba. They do this without giving up MKG or any of their core rotation and still retain a top 20 pick in a deep draft.

Green isn't worth a late first lottery pick by himself. Its interesting, but I don't see that happening. Plus what are they going to do with 3 SF's, Taylor, MGK, and Green who all need playing time?

I like this for the Celtics, but Green just simply doesnt have the value. If they wanted #9 the Celts woudl probably have to throw in KO or Sully with green, and I cant see that happening.

I am always interested in any possible trades that involve Biyombo. As the other poster indicated, they have Gilchrist but I kind of think that they might be interested in moving him for the right deal. Maybe you could rework the deal by substituting Gilchrist for Neal and adding next year's Celtics or Clippers #1 plus whatever filler is needed. Even that might not be enough for them. Biyombo is a very intriguing player at age 21.

Yes, I believe so. I think a straight swap of Jeff Green for the #9 pick is fair value. An additional mid first rounder for Biyombo. A 2nd rounder for Gary Neal. All fair value.

I like getting the pick but I doubt they would do it.   I don't trust Jordan as a GM and would be cautious to go with one of his picks as he has a lot of busts on his track record.  Of course, he might be easier to swindle that way with his record.  Biyombo is a decent rebounder and shot blocker though but I hardly think he is the answer at pivot but he can protect the rim somewhat.

That is awesome if no team wants Green because I am happy to hold on to him if we do make a trade for Love or another star. It also makes his next contract much more affordable.

Also, I never quite understood value. Why wouldn't a team in the 20s want a guy like Green to help them compete for a championship? If you look at his draft, he was the 6th or 7th best player. I would think it would be pretty sweet to get a guy in his prime who panned out as mid-lottery value.  I understand rookie contracts and all, but for a team competing for it all, Green would be an excellent upgrade over whoever they are going to get at 20-something.
