Meh, Lebron could sign for the league minimum and still make more than anyone.  For that matter, put these four together and they'll all make way more off endorsements than they ever could on the court.

As much as I'd like to complain about teams stacking, if the Celts somehow pulled Love, Melo and Asik to Boston, I wouldn't be too upset about it.  I know, those four aren't exactly the Miami four, but "any given Sunday" doesn't exactly apply in the NBA.

Mike

How would Melo be in both Miami and Boston at the same time?    ???

Boston will be getting Fab Melo instead :P

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Carmello Anthony playing alongside LeBron James in Miami is the single best thing that could ever happen to people who want to see the Miami Heat lose games.

'Melo is about as much of a ballhog as there is in the league.  The Celtics could use a guy like that, because we don't have anyone else who can score.  In Miami, though...  every possession that Carmello dominates the ball, every shot that he takes is one fewer shot that LeBron gets.

Subtraction by addition.

Anyone else remember the '03-'04 Lakers?  Kobe/Shaq/Glove/Malone?  There's only room for so much ego on one team.

Last time I checked lebron wade and bosh are basically egoless, and Melo knows lebron is the best player in the league. I think ego would not be the problem.

I think this is the first time I've ever heard Lebron referred to as egoless.  This is the same guy who refers to himself as "King James" and has a huge "Chosen 1" tattoo on his back.

The three of them are willing to sacrifice stats / touches / money to win.  That doesn't mean they don't each have egos, though.

Not to mention the Decision which make have been the biggest ego stroking event of them all.

I'm pretty sure he meant egoless on the basketball court.  Similar to Bird and Magic in that regard, Jordan and Bryant are much more in the Anthony class on the ego front though.

These guys have no sense of competition or interest in facing a challenge.  They want to be handed fame and glory the easy way.  They may earn a lot of titles, but they aren't champions.
It's often said that if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.  These guys are looking for a shortcut.  For that reason, the Heat and Lebron James in particular should never be remembered as one of the all time greats.

I'd rather it not happen for the C's sake and for the overall balance in the league. But if they want to take 50% pay cuts so be it.

Maybe we can get Rondo to take an MLE sized deal and sign Gasol to a room exception if LBJ is signing contracts smaller than Rondo's last deal.  ;)

balance of the league is my biggest gripe in not wanting to see this happen. between the officiating in this league and now seeing the outcome of how the season will end before it even starts, the NBA is telling me to not tune in.
