He said this in a recent podcast, linked below.  Says that he only went to Boston to visit his agent and trainer, based in Rhode Island. Had nothing to do with interest in the Celtics. Said that he will be able to dictate where he gets traded, will insist on going to a team that has can make play-offs and do damage, and that, while Boston has a promising future, they are in no way assured of being in the play-offs next season even with the addition of Love in a weak Eastern Conference.  (I don't agree with that last part, but passing it along.)

Added that GSW remains his top target.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I listen to their radio show every day going to work.

You have to take Ric Bucher's opinions as a little bit biased leaning towards Bay Area sports teams. As I have in the past 2 years. But it could be true.

I'd be more concerned about "Says that he only went to Boston to visit his agent and trainer, based in Rhode Island. Had nothing to do with interest in the Celtics." if Love's visit to Boston started the rumors, but I think we were hearing "Love interested in the Celts" before the visit.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
Ric Bucher:  Shoot, I've got a video column due Monday?  Eh, I'll slap together something contrarian about Kevin Love, those always get some views.  Use a lot of weasel words to make it look like I know what I'm talking about without actually giving any meaningful info.  Screw it, it's only Bleacher Report.  Now cut the check, baby, Daddy needs some of that new tanning cream made with diamond dust!

http://thebiglead.com/2012/08/09/espns-ric-bucher-rips-yahoos-adrian-wojnarowski-over-dwight-howard-trade-report-then-espn-reports-the-deal-is-close/

This article is from 2012: A few hours after Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Dwight Howard could be headed to the Lakers in a blockbuster 4-team deal, ESPN's Ric Bucher went on ESPN radio in LA and was asked about the potential trade.

Bucher proceeded to take a massive dump on Wojnarowski's report.

Bucher: This trade has about as much of a chance as the previous 531 [trade rumors]. I know Dwight Howard is a hot topic, and I know that everyone is hot and bothered to get this story over with, but... and I'll ask you guys .... I'm always a little leery when talks are serious, but we don't know who is going where.

Bucher: My 1st thought was, the 76ers had to leak this, they're the only ones who could look at this and say, 'works for us.'

Make no mistake about it, there is a reason why Ric Bucher is now working for Bleacher Report and not ESPN.

Nothing to see here

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Bucher is still alive? I thought after his immediate dismal of the Howard trade, and how he said Woj was overrated at making 'educated wild guesses,' that people would have realized Bucher is a one trick pony.

Bucher doesn't have very good sources overall. He's reliable with Kobe's camp and a few other agents I think, but he's not plugged in with front offices.
