I agree with the idea of waiting a year. As long as DA uses the TPE so get a center (Asik or worst case Perk)
For 2014-2015 give me (dark horse is convincing Pierce to take full MLE for 1 year to retire a C)
Rondo
AB
Green
Love
Asik
then a solid but not great bench (figuring no pierce)
Bayless
Bass
Wallace
KO
Steimsma (or other cheap D big)
Rookie wing/guard at #17
Johnson
Pressey
I think this team makes a solid playoff run and gives DA and Stevens a year to see how pieces fit. Then 2015 offseason can be used to build on this foundation.
Also I agree that Melo and Love are similar players. Melo is best suited as a elite stretch 4, this is where he excelled for the knicks. Love is also an elite stretch 4. Yes there are huge differences. Melo can play SF love can not. Love is an elite rebounder, melo is a good rebounding 3 average 4. In my opinion they are both 2nd tier NBA super stars who need players around them to compliment there skills. Both should have average to above average players at the other 4 positions on the court and particularity need the protection of a good defensive center. I worry that the team D will struggle with both on the court and melo guarding the 3. This is especially true in matchups against the elite of the west.
