Rondo, Sullinger, 5th pick for...

Kyrie, Bennett, 9th pick.

If they think Kyrie would walk anyway, do they consider it?  Could Celtics draft well enough at 9 and 17 to build around Kyrie?  Also have Green, Bennett, and Olynyk up front and Bradley at SG.  Would a Vonleh or Gordon be the target at #9?  If they aren't available, do you go with a SG and go for a big at 17?

Rondo > Kyrie

Sully > Bennett

5th pick > 9th

Best case:

Kyrie
Bradley
Hairston
Green
Bennett
Gordon
Olynyk

Still need a center.  Green, Bennett, Gordon too similar.  Vonleh not likely to fall to #9.

Worst case:

Kyrie
Bradley
Harris
Green
Bennett
Olynyk
Payne

Rondo > Kyrie

Sully > Bennett

5th pick > 9th

All true.

I don't think Cleveland pays for a more expensive rental of Rondo instead of a cheaper rental for Irving.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Well if you value Rondo more than Kyrie, of course the trade sucks.  In 2 years, would you rather have Kyrie with a new contract or a middle aged Rondo who is still mad about rebuilding?  If we miss out on the top 3 picks, Kyrie is at least a chance to get a popular, face of the franchise type "star"

Ok, got a new one:

If we do get a top 3 pick.

Rondo, and Hohnson, and the top : pick for:

Drummond, Jerebko, bill ups, #9 pick.

They can draft Wiggins or Parker, keep Monroe, and have a solid starting 5 of Rondo, Caldwell- Pope, Parker, Smith, Monroe.

Celtics:

Drummond
Olynyk
Sullinger
Gordon
Green
Hairston
Bradley
(Billups)

Draft a PG next year.  Or draft Payton at 17 and draft a SG next year.

Uh, no. Not only is Irving better right now, but he's also just 22, isn't expiring at seasons end, and isn'y coming off a torn ACL.

do u think rondo is some peice of trash we found on the sidewalk... Rondo is a top5 and arguably top3 pg and he will most likely have a career year next year... Why trade him away with our second best player (sully) and what could be our next franchise player thru the draft for an overrated 22 year old with handles but no playoff experience and cant even be a leader on the cavs for crying out loud!!! Just stop..

I think the Cavs really want to make the playoffs next year and try to keep Irving. If they miss the playoffs, I could see he using that as an excuse to bolt.

They need a SF, and if Deng leaves they might be interested in Green which could be a good fit were he doesn't have to be the man. Maybe even a S&T with AB, and bring in Waiters, pick and and either Bennet or Gee.

And since we have nothing else to do for a few more days, throw in Bass since they are light on the PF potion and they can toss in Varejao.  ;D

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Can't see Rondo re-signing in Cleveland, although they could offer him a max deal with his rights.
Don't see the point when they are both free agents. Kyrie is a bit of a selfish chump anyway, never gonna be a superstar.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

He would have to have been mad in the first place to still be mad in two years.

Mayyybe id consider a deal for JohnWall as i think hes turning into a leader for a young washington deal but no chance at him as washington wanna stay young... Other than that id rather have rondo than all other PGs except probably Westbrook...
