Yea, Clippers won't deal Paul. He's like the face of the franchise. They'll deal Griffin before they deal Paul.

off topic...but maybe the Lakers are waiting (head coach issue) on this Sterling mess---to see if Doc might want to join them.
Doc would never do that in a million years.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

It doesn't make any sense for either team.  For the Clippers, they are committed to Paul, and I'm sure they are planning to keep him together with Blake, DeAndre, and Doc and keep making a run for it.

For the Celtics, I thought the main reason everybody wants to trade Rondo is that nobody wants to pay him.  Well, Chris Paul may be an upgrade, but he's not younger, and he's making a heck of a lot more money than Rondo is likely to make.

Taking on Paul's $90million contract and giving up Sully and a nice first round pick?!!  No way!!

SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Chris Paul is much better than Rondo.  They wouldn't do this.  That would be like OKC failing to make the Finals and react by trading Durant for Paul George.

That's not why the Celtics (or the fans) consider trading Rondo.

Chris Paul would not want to come here, he didnt want to come here when we had KG and Pierce, why would he want to come here now??  I know its a trade and he wouldnt have much of a choice, but he'd be a malcontent.

They're both well past their prime, so age isn't much of a factor.

You've never included not wanting to give Rondo a big contract next year as a reason to trade Rondo, or seen others say that?

What is the reason, then?

If anything, I would say NOT trading Rondo for Chris Paul makes even more sense now.

It seems the media and the fans are always putting the blame on Paul's teammates or on his recurring injuries whenever he loses in the playoffs, but it's not the first time Paul makes dumb mistakes at the end of a close (and a deciding) game. I would rather have Rondo than Paul in close playoff games, even with Rondo's shooting "woes".

I certainly haven't.  I think ROndo is paid fairly.  The "looming contract" isn't why Ainge is open to trading Rondo.

More about talent, fit and vision.  Most fans who come up with Rondo trade ideas are fans of Rondo... they just feel it's in the best interest of the Celtics long-term to move him.

I didn't realize you guys didn't understand that.  I explained it before... Pre-2007, I was on board with trading Pierce.  I loved Pierce... I just thought at the time, it was in our best interest to move him.  Ainge did too, apparently... he tried shipping him to Portland in 2005 for a pick that would have been used on Chris Paul, but Pierce killed the deal.

Perfectly stated with a good example...
