Drummond is dhoward part 2.  Low iq and lack of offensive skills. But has a beast body

Drummond wishes he could shoot free throws as well as Dwight Howard.
"The worst thing that ever happened in sports was sports radio, and the internet is sports radio on steroids with lower IQs.” -- Brian Burke, former Toronto Maple Leafs senior adviser, at the 2013 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference

advanced metrics show that, when playing his natural PF position, josh smith is one of the very best defenders in the NBA - we're talking near-KG levels. keep in mind he was the leader and best player on a perennial mid-level playoff team, but on detroit he's been pushed further from the basket, where he's not quite as elite on defense, and is a much weaker shooter.
a trade that is both feasible and makes sense for both teams is jeff green for josh smith. detroit gets a true wing player, and boston gets the defensive big man that it needs.
this also leaves boston with the option of getting another wing player in the draft. assuming that player can shoot, that leaves boston with 2 strong shooters in olynyk and the new wing, bradley is also solid, and that would allow smith and rondo to focus on being the athletic freaks that they are. keep in mind danny also has the brooklyn pick, as well as the traded player exception and expirings. maybe danny turns some of those assets into a very good bench player.
lineup:
rondo -  pressey
bradley - CJ
high lottery pick - wallace
smith - bass
olynyk -sullinger

Not trying to be snarky but if Drummond is all that great why does Detroit suck so much? Is it the bad fit of all their parts? Is it that Drummond may be a beast on the boards and within 5 feet of the basket but lacks other skills? Everyone always talks about Drummond as if he's the most desirable player in the league. Is he going to turn us into a championship team overnight? I don't get it. Just wondering.

To be fair, I don't think any one player could turn this team into a championship one overnight. Lebron/KD might get us to the 2nd round.

I don't have an answer but Drummond looks great and we could use him. So how do we get him?
Step 1.....send Pistons owner a large amount of alcohol.

Step 2.....call Pistons owner and tell him you just happen to be in town and we should drink said alcohol

Step 3....pull out rubies. Everyone likes rubies. Distract owner with rubies.

Step 4....slip LSD into owner's drink.

Step 5.....get a bunch of large men to shove owner into trunk of large vehicle and drive to secluded area.

Step 6....have Lucy Liu open trunk at secluded area and make vague promises related to trading Drummond, while large men show owner a tank full of sharks with lazers on head.

Step 7. Acquire Drummond.

Well SVG is said to be a big fan of Munroe and now that he has the job, maybe there is a chance to get Drummond if you take Smith's contract?

Green, Sully, our first round pick

for

Smith, Drummond?

Kinda doubt that gets it done.
