To Pacers: Asik, Lin, Celtics 2014 17th pick
To Rockets: Evan Turner (signed), George Hill, Celtics trade exception
To Celtics: Roy Hibbert

It's not working between the Pacers and Hibbert. Pacers don't want to utilize him properly and guys like Stephenson and George want to be the ones launches 15-20 shots a game.  Hibbert without getting involved looks visibly upset on the court to the point he doesn't look happy to play. When he gets yanked he doesn't even seem like he cares anymore.   Asik would be a better fit for them since he doesn't even want the ball on the offensive end and happy to do the dirty work on both ends.  Time looks like is running out with Hill also.

The reason the Rockets do this trade is to open up space for another big FA pickup either in 2014 or 2015.  Even if they can get to sign Melo, getting guys like Turner and Hill would really boost their bench. It's horrible and could be a big reason they lose vs the Blazers

The Celtics get a legit center who probably just needs a change of scenery to rejuvanate his career.  Rondo gets a big man he can lob passes to and Green and Hibbert go back to their Georgetown days (helped Gtown get to the finals in the March Madness). Both are still good friends and i'm sure still remember each others tendencies.

Just an idea if picking up Embiid fails or Danny can't obtain another rim protector. Hibbert would be an upgrade to just getting a regular rim protector.

So, the Celtics trade the #17 pick for Hibbert?

Doesn't work: he makes much more than the trade exception.

well lets say these are the principal pieces. You can match salaries. Add Bass or something

Good trade or no?

You can't add salary to TEs, though.

I know it's well-traveled territory, but I'd prefer to get Asik.

If Hibbert is available, I would love to acquire him somehow.

if hibbert gets 4 rebounds 15points in 30+ minutes you will definitely blame hibbert
one of the reason pacers are loosing  because hibbert is not doing his best frontcourt clogged the paint and rebounds
and george hill needs to be a pg playmaker is those games

with all those 1st pick and 2nd pick we have
with those players
wallace bass green, all you can get is hibbert?

if that is the case why dont we offer something like pekovic for green and picks
or this guy larry sanders, force them to give middleton or sessions as a filler
deal accepted

the idea of Hibbert doing anything with a lob is pretty hilarious.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Roy is slumping badly, but if he is available then I think the Celtics should make a play for him. He is 7 foot tall and is the rim protector the Celtics are looking for.

there's a lot of rim protector out there, let say hibbert protected the rim, humphries or sullinger at pf grabbing rebounds is not a problem, the question is who is your go to guy who can score?
i don't see hibbert as consistent of giving us 20+ points a game
i'd rather deal with pau gasol or larry sander or this guy gobert

Hibbert can score 20 unlike say asik. He should score 14 a game . Even if he isnt a great rebounder we got sully and ko is developing into a decent rebounder to help. Hibberts length and decent offensive capabilities is what we could use.

The NBA might suspect something if Bird, McHale and Ainge's team are all working on a 3 team deal ;D

Anyway, I like this alot for the Celts.

Admittedly, I haven't watched much of the playoffs but Hibbert (in my eyes) is as legit of a center as there is in the NBA.

Would LOVE to have him on the Celts.

Given contracts and likely price tags, I'd prefer Asik.
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

strictly speaking on a talent level, hibbert for #17 is a steal.  the drawback is his recent play and his contract.  get him focussed on playing hard and it's a no brainer.

would never happen though.  Bird isn't letting him go for that little in return regardless of his recent play.
