We made it, guys.  All i wanted this season was a Top 8 pick... we got one.... and didn't have to trade Rondo to do it.  Well done, Danny... well done.

Congrats.   We have a fun future ahead of us.  Let's hope we don't have to tank again for another decade.

It's worth pointing out, we could still get the 7th or 8th pick and end up with a guy who peaks as a borderline starter.

Important to keep these things in mind.

I'm hopeful we'll get an All-Star caliber guy who can help lead the team into the next era, though.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Well we got Paul Pierce at 10.  And we got Joe Johnson at 10.
So  I think we can get a pretty good player in the top 8 this year in what promises to be a star studded draft.

PS  We were NOT tanking.  We were resting Rondo for back to backs in a meaningless season.  Plus a number of guys were dinged up going into game #82.

And if we win the coin flip, we'll default to #4... Exciting times.

Pretty sure it worked exactly as intended.  ;)

Anyway, as sad as I am to see the Celtics hang up their sneakers in April, I am very, very excited for the playoffs.

as i remember it there was only a few games where you kind of could tell the tank was on
good  team effort, love stevens attitude and coaching and the tank was subtle enough
give us a good draft pick and trade/free agent big and we are ready!

Lol I know, right?  I'm a homer... I thought Rondo was going to help us win.  Totally overreacted.  Best of both worlds... kept Rondo and still landed our prime asset.

Danny Ainge is a Golden God!  WOOOOOOOOO!!

Best.... Day...Of...The... Season.    Top 8, pick baby!  WE DID IT!

Wiggins, Embiid, Parker, Exum, Randle, Vonleh, Smart, Gordon.   2013/14 Tank Job = Nailed it.

So who's everyone most excited for in the bottom half of the top 8?

I think my list goes
Smart
Randle
Gordon
Vonleh

I would be okay with any of the top 8 projected guys other than Randle.  Just have a bad feeling he is going to struggle in the NBA.

Honestly, if we drafted Randle or Vonleh, we could trade Sully + our Nets 2016 pick for somebody really good at either the 2, 3 or 5 spots.  Then we'd have that player we traded for, Randle/Vonleh and then Rondo/Bradley/Green/KO/our second 1st rounder.  Hopefully we can drop Bass and Bogans, too.  I would be totally on board for all of that - I mean we wouldn't win a championship next year, but we'd be watchable and have a lot of potential to get better instead of just treading water.

I'm reading everywhere that we have slightly better odds then the Jazz at getting a top 3 pick (33.7% compared to 33.4%).  Does that mean that the Celtics would at most get the 7 seed if 3 lower seeds were to win the top 3 spots? I know that Utah and Boston share ping pong balls, but what happens to draft order after the lottery when there is a tie?

Also has anyone figure out the possibility of the Celtics getting bumped 3 spots lower at the 4.5 spot?  Its gotta be below 1%.
