Just thinking about some ideas and this made sense to me.

Memphis IN: Brandon Bass, Kelly Olynyk, Keith Bogans, 2014 Celtics lottery pick.

Celtics IN: Marc Gasol

Memphis is in nowheresville right now too good for a good lottery pick and too bad for the 8th seed in a brutal western conference. Not being a place that attracts free agents they know it's time to rebuild and trade Gasol for the Celtics pick and some scraps.

Celtics Get a Legit center, and Sully can move to his future natural position. Our glut of PFs is thinned out and we have a more balanced roster.

Would the celtics have to add another pick? I think this is fair for both teams.

I don't think they'd trade Gasol before Randolph was moved, so you should maybe factor that into your prediction (a realistic Randolph trade and the pieces Memphis would likely get back).
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I like Gasol, but I would rather keep the pick.

Is the lottery pick protected ?   Where are the Celtics picking in that trade ?

It seems like the C's are overpaying there.

That's an overpay I think we could afford. Rondo and Gasol on the pick and roll would be nasty. Our defense would greatly improve and a core of Mahc and Rajon could attract other good players to play for us.

It is a bit overpaying, but getting a high caliber Center like Mahc Gasol, I say go for it.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

I doubt Gasol is as much of an impact-maker. I would consider him the necessary option after we have two stars like Love and Melo on the team already.

PG: Rondo
SG: Some good defensive guy and solid shooter (all-range)
SF: Melo
PF: Love
C: Gasol

Now that would be a legit contending team right away.

The only way we get anyone is through trade. Hoping that some star would come through free agency in the future when no star has come to boston willingly is not a very good strategy.

I'd do that deal if we swapped Klynyk for Sully.

if its the 4th or fifth pick the c's might be underpaying. Outside of howard and hibbert i dont think there is a better center in the league than gasol. He is the anchor to the memphis defense.  Anyways our roster could be Gasol, Sullinger, green, stephenson, rondo. Wed have the money to bring in lance and while i dont think that is a championship team id say its third in the east and with the wealth of picks we have and cap space i say we go for it.

I'm saying I wouldn't trade Klynyk and a lottery pick for Marc Gasol.  I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I prefer Kelly to Sully.

Klynyk: still the dumbest nickname around :P. Also, I'd trade anyone not named Rajon Rondo for Marc Gasol.

I'll strike you a deal, if Olynyk starts and averages 15 and 10 next season, I'll never call him anything else.

 ;D

Though I'd still trade him for Marc Gasol.
