I don't know why teams keep giving him a job. Not an NBA quality player anymore.

Hopefully, Jamison will retire this summer.

Jamison deal is a pure tax dump for the Clippers; ATL can take him into cap space.

seems like the same thing Miami did in selling off Roger Mason.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson

Yep, probably sent the cash to buy him out and he'll be trying to jump on with a title contender.

Why would Atlanta even want to pay him?  He has absolutely nothing left.

what did Atlanta send out in the deal?

According to the LA Times:

Quote
The Clippers traded Jamison,  and an undisclosed sum of cash to Atlanta for the rights to Cenk Akoyl, a 6-foot-7 forward who was the Hawks' second-round draft pick in 2005 but has never appeared in the NBA and now plays in the Turkish Basketball League.

Presumably, Atlanta gets more cash than they pay out if they waive Jamison, so they basically rented out cap space for guaranteed profit.  The only reason they don't do this deal is if they really want to punish the Clippers and force them to pay more luxury tax, and that requires no other team being able to absorb Jamison's contract for a similar deal.

I believe the Hornets signed Robert Parish to a three-year deal then released him after two seasons, avoiding the unguaranteed final season.

Moses Malone's second stint in Philly ended with him being waived.

Walt Bellamy was taken by the New Orleans Jazz in the expansion draft and played one game for them (the last of his career) before being waived.

Wow those are some impressive stats, I would have never pictured him as HOF bound (I mean I still don’t), but that’s some exclusive company, and I can see someone making the argument based on the stats.

EDIT: Plus he was on 2 teams that were favorites to win the championship at the start of their seasons (2010 Cavs and 2013 Lakers).  Had LeBron and Kobe/Dwight come through for him, those 2 rings, combined with those stats, may very well have gotten him in (plus 2 Final Fours at UNC that could have gone differently as well).
