I kinda think after a flurry of activity of smaller deals, I kinda think the trades are done for the day.

Yeah, I'm expecting more also but mostly along the lines of the low level stuff we seem to be seeing so far this morning/early afternoon.

I think trade day news tends to continue to leak out for the rest of the afternoon in years past. Sometimes it takes a while to get the league approval and so on.

The trade call merely has to start by the deadline for the trade to go through.

So no we're not done, but there aren't any blockbusters shaping up.

this season's trade deadline is surprisingly quiet...the strong teams wants to get stronger and the weak teams are aiming towards that lotto pick...

is this upcoming draft REALLY that strong?

I think it has more to do with the new CBA than the draft. Draft picks are more valuable than ever. Being the integral chips that they are when fascilitating trades, teams are finding it difficult parting or obtaining them. And then there's the whole aspect of shorter term contracts and teams putting greater attention on not taking on "bad" contracts.

I also remember some obscure trades like the Patty O and Cassell trades that were simply trades for essentially nothing.

Yup, it's a soft deadline.  While I doubt anything big will happen, I'd be surprised if more deals didn't take place.
