You know its a boring trade deadline when this is worth reporting.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

finally...geting the ball rolling early...

Sucks for Philly...they wanted a 1st rounder for him...guess not.

I am shocked that all it took to get him was 2 2nd rounders.  Obviously it has much to do with him being a FA at year's end but still.  25 years old, averaging 13/9/3 and 1.3 blocks while shooting 40% from 3 on 4 attempts per game.  Hawes is a very good young player.  Smart move by Cleveland.  Now they just have to hold him at gunpoint until he submits convince him to re-sign there.

weeeeee! shuffling deck chairs.

I like this from Zach Lowe:

@ZachLowe_NBA
Hawes' last game in Philly featured him blatantly not trying on defense against...Cleveland. TRADE FOR THAT MAN.

They still have Turner and Young on the docket.

Just wow.....they are going to need way more than Spencer And Mike Brown as coach to keep k. Irving in prisoner in Cleveland .   And want to keep Deng......he deserves better than rott there.

They have had many lottery picks and James and still just are an awful place.

Bad place to be.

I bet Earl Clark and his non-guaranteed 2014-2015 contract are headed back to Philly with the picks.

So Hump should get Danny 1-2 2nd rounders if he gets an expiring along with it is how I read the market.  I'd be okay with that.

Solid deal for both teams. Sixers tank gets stronger while receiving some assets for a guy they won't resign. Cleveland gets an upgrade for the playoff push and keeps flexibility cause Hawes has an expiring contract.

Philadelphia will probably get 2014 2nd rounders from Orlando and Memphis that Cleveland has.

That pick from Orlando will probably be 32nd or 33rd which  is actually a better value than a late 1st rounder from a contender.

I would like us to get that kind of 2nd round pick for Bass. Not likely...

Don't realize how important having a good culture for your franchise is until you hear about a team like the Cavs.

Cleveland still imagines itself a free agent destination next summer, and wants to preserve it's cap room, so I don't think Bass ever was an option for Cleveland.  He's a better fit somewhere like Golden State, which doesn't have cap room next year anyway.

I'm a fan of any deal that improves a team just behind BKN/ATL in the standings, within reason.
