Boston: Love, Rubio, Asik, Hou 2014 1st
Houston: Rondo, Green
Minnesota: Parsons, Lin, Sullinger, as many future draft picks (not 2014) as it takes

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=n24pnbk

Celtics get Love, a defensive center to pair him with, and a younger Rondo replacement.
Houston gets Rondo to be part of their Big 3 as well as Green.
Minnesota is going to lose Love anyway, so they get 2 young building blocks in Parsons and Sullinger and a lot of future 1st rounders.

The Celtics will have a high draft pick, especially if they have significant roster turnover midseason.
Draft Parker.
Use their additional 2014 picks (plus if needed) to move up to draft Exum.

PG - Rubio
SG - Exum
SF - Parker
PF - Love
C - Asik

not a fan of it.  we get Love and Asik but no one's left on the team that can really score other than Love.

Rubio's regressed on offense this year so he's a major step down from Rondo.  Asik is useless on offense.  Bass and KO are inconsistent on offense and play the same position as Love.  Wallace becomes our starting SF and that's more abysmal offense.

Also, no way Minny does this deal without getting our top pick this year.  your draft strategy is unclear. you say draft Parker but then trade the other 2014 picks to move up to get Exum-->we only have one other 1st rounder which right now would be around #15.  what is it that you think we'd have left to trade that would get us that far up in the draft to get Exum?  no one's trading Exum for whatever flotsam we have left after this deal.  By the way, the team's below us in the standing right now (we have the 6th worst record) figure to remain worse than us even after this deal with the possible exception of Sac which would creep ahead of us.  that leaves us with the 5th pick and no shot at any of the top 4 players in this draft.  The next top players in this draft are PFs -- same position as Love -- or Marcus Smart and I don't want him at the #5 slot.

with the roster you've built, what reason would Love have to stick around and resign in Boston after next year?  He'd be just as likely to bolt from Boston since he's back to being the single talented player on his team again.  At least he's got some talent around him in Minny.  If he's rumored to be unhappy with what's there, he'd be miserable with what would be left here.

You missed the 2014 1st from Houston in the deal, that's 2 2014 1sts to trade up, not 1.

Love wouldn't be the only scoring option on the team with Parker and Exum.  True, they'll have growing pains next year, but very quickly we'd have a new and younger big 3 of Love-Parker-Exum.

Asik isn't useless on offense, he's already shown he can put up 10 ppg.  Dwight Howard is playing his position in Houston right now.

Rubio is not a major downgrade from Rondo.  Rondo is a 10-11 assist, 10-12 ppg PG.  Rubio is an 8-10 assist, 8-10 ppg PG.  That's a slight drop off.  And, he'd have more to work with in Boston than Minny.

A couple things:

1. It would take 3 first rounders I think for Minnesota to agree to this
2. Not sure if Houston would agree to this at all. Giving up two starters, Asik, and their #1 this year is a lot for Rondo (and Green)
3. In response to slamtheking, we could potentially draft an impact scorer (Parker, Randle, etc.) this season if we kept our #1, and/or we would actually be freeing up cap room with this trade so we could be even more aggressive in free agency to land a scorer

1.  Okay, we have plenty to burn.
2.   Rondo is their target and an obvious upgrade over Lin so it's a no-brainer that he's involved.  I think a Rondo for Lin, Parsons, and 1st is a fair deal.  We also know Ainge covets Parsons and has interest in Asik.  We're just adding a Green for Asik swap to the Rondo deal.

How can you say with a straight face that Love would be the only talented player on that team.
