The Herald guys are pretty good, too, on a local level.

A lot of the sports journalists who get criticized are actually okay at the local level.  Chris Broussard is probably still worth listening to if he says something about the Cavs, Lebron James, and perhaps the New York-area teams.

Right. Even though they're 'national' in their coverage, they've still got more ins with some organizations than with others.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Some reporters routinely make stuff up. Sherrod is one of them. Sam Smith and Peter Vecsey spread garbage. Gary Washburn doesn't understand the CBA, and his stories (and "sources") often reflect that.

I trust Woj, Stein, Spears, Aldridge, Berger and Lowe.  They're not always right, but I don't think they're reporting from the land of make believe. The Herald guys are pretty good, too, on a local level.
I don't think Sherrod "makes up" stuff. But he has zero sources and will propagate anything that he sees on the Internet without doing any due diligence.
