Clippers and Celtics can't make a trade this season due to the Doc Rivers deal.

I get it now the restriction is in place.

But is there a reason why a regular fan can understand why?

What , they are going to talk about the good old times?

The Celtics and Clippers tried to circumvent salary cap rules.  Think of it as a punishment for that.

The restriction is in place to make sure the Celtics and the Clippers don't make a wink-wink-nudge-nudge trade to send in extra compensation for Doc. NBA trades cannot be contingent this way.

My trade idea imo wouldnt mean we are giving extra anything. I get that though if it means as a punishment

Im guessing the restriction is lifted after this season
