Well that's quite the understatement.

What could they offer? Not much there at all.

Demarre Carroll? Why? What does soon to be 28 year old, late first round pick, insignificant before this year Demarre Carroll bring to this Celtics team that Green doesn't? Is this purely about shedding salary? Are we going to get the first that they are owed from Brooklyn?

It's not that Carroll isn't decent, but he plays over 30 mpg and averages 10 ppg. He doesn't exactly scream prime time player.

Makes sense.  They've locked into a similarly aged/priced core with Horford/Millsap/Teague/Williams.  Big hole is SF.

But I'm not really interested in dumping Green for cap relief and a pick (their likely offer) - we've got plenty of picks and who are we going to sign that's better than Green with limited cap space?

If it happens, it would be to secure the Nets pick by getting Atlantas too.

Maybe DA seeing Parker play last night got him itching to load up on picks to move up if possible. Especially if Brooklyn misses the play offs.

Hard to make the salaries work. A package of Carroll (2 years), Brand (exp.) and Schroder? This creates cap space for us, probably a prospect in Schroder but not much more. I doubt Atlanta adds a pick to it.

They're about $15mill away from the tax line so no worries there and also have the Al Horford injury exception for $5mill they could use to absorb some salary.

Brand, Carroll, and Schroeder add up to about 8 million. Brand at 4 million is the only one expiring.
