 Out Wallace and Rondo

In Korver, Schoder, Lou Williams, Teague and a first.

There isn't many trades I even consider. With this you may have to.

Why would you have to? We're getting rid of a star and not getting one back.

korver? lou williams, teague ???
we have more than enough draft picks

i'm guessing you like teague

What is it with everyone wanting to trade Rondo for an underwhelming bunch of role players (at least they're role players on a championship team anyway). The draft pick isn't worth much as it'll be mid-first in a draft that most scouts have called "top heavy". Teague is good but a massive downgrade on Rondo. Korver is a good shooter and provides spacing on a contending team. He's not a #1 option though or even a starter.

Massive NO!!

The first round pick. The pick could turn out to be a perennial all star hall of famer basketball god who fixes famine and war and finds out how to prevent natural disasters and gets multiple nobel prizes and finally give us world peace.

Can Rondo cure cancer? CAN HE?

Seems like some people just don't want world peace.

It isn't a horrible trade.  And while Teague is not a star, he is a very good PG who if he was in a bigger market would be a lot more well known.  Teague has continued his string of putting together better season every year in the league and is at 16/7/3 with another 1.3 steals per game, which aren't exactly scrub numbers.  Williams is recovering from his knee injury alright.  Korver is one of the best shooters in the game.  Schroeder looks like a foreign rookie, but there is talent there. Another first in the 20's or so would give Boston a lot more trading options entering the draft (you know maybe package the Hawks & Nets pick to move up into the mid-teens.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Alternatively:

Rondo
Wallace

For

Teague
Schroder
Brand (expiring)
Ayon (expiring)
2014 1st

If you don't like Teague, then you won't like this trade.  When I've seen Teague play, I generally like him.  He's not Rondo, but he's a solid NBA starting PG.  Schroder also looks like he has a good future, and you can always trade one later if Schroder develops into a starter in his own right.

This clears about $12 million in cap room for next summer, once you account for the extra draft pick, and begins to put you into max free agent territory.  Also, I bet this trade makes Atlanta worse this year, because Teague currently is better than recovering Rondo.  It's possible they fall down in the standings for this year, increasing the value of their draft pick.  Less likely that they fall into the lottery, but not impossible.

I personally don't thing I'd do it -- not sure Ainge would either.  I do think Ainge would if Atlanta added an unprotected 2017 1st.

intriguing. i like Teague as well and think he's quite underrated. He's not at the level Rondo is, but if Ainge is sold that he can make a splash in free agency (especially if acquiring one of the top prospects in the draft increases those chances), then it's definitely a deal you have to consider.

No I don't see it as positioning us to rebuild. Too much of an inbetween trade.

Either bring in talent around Rondo or ship him out for pieces that can legitimately help you going forward. Getting an good point guard on a fair contract, a low first, and a PG prospect isn't very appealing to me. Not unless you're extremely high on Schroeder.

I am pretty sure this is a trade neither team would do.

Considering Teague has been great this season, that would be way too much value for the Hawks to give up for Rondo, and as others have said, there just isn't enough star potential coming back for the C's to give up Rondo in that deal.

I don't think anyone is giving up the sort of things Ainge would ask for Rondo until he shows more positive play.

And even then, I just think Rondo will have more value to hold on to, than to trade.

Agree with this big time.

The league is so ridiculously deep at PG right now.

Not many teams out there who would pay a star's package for Rajon Rondo. Ainge is better off keeping him for this manner.
