"That's all I can stand, and I can't stands no more."

If there's one good thing about this, it's that Red is not here to see it.

And it would NOT have happened if Red HAD been here.

This sucks.

I think you underestimate the era in which we're playing currently, the competition, the effects of the current CBA, how long of a career Pierce had as a Celtic compared to past Celtics, and how productive currently he's as a player in particular with how high of a salary he has.

So, I can easily see Red making this sort of move in this era as much as it would've pained him to make it.

I'll say this, if Ainge hadn't put the faith he put on our team 2 off-seasons ago, maybe Pierce doesn't get traded. But in order to give KG and Pierce another go as a Celtic, Ainge sacrificed our much needed future flexibility. And in order to regain it, they had to be moved in part because they underperformed, the team underperformed, and was severely unhealthy.

I think it's safe to say that we can move on from the Ainge is evil incarnate and Red is infallible rhetoric.

I hate that this game is Nationally televised... if I was watching the Comcast SportsNet broadcast we would've seen the actual tributes.

I love Ainge. He made a good basketball move but it won't be appreciated for several years.

This sucks.

I just tuned in and missed the pre-game.  I assume there was a tribute to KG and PP.  I'd appreciate if you (or someone) could provide a quick synopsis of the pre-game and crowd response.
I see you got a previous run-down ... they were both clearly choked up.

I'm trying, trying, TRYING, to watch this game, NG, but to see these two guys in this building without green on ... it's killing me.

They just chanted "KG - KG - KG" when he sat down ... jeez, man, call me a sap, I'm having big trouble with this.

Don't think I'll make it through watching this entire game.

They'd better find some way to retire these guys in Boston ... honestly don't care what it takes.

Yeah, I know it's all "good business", I know all the "upsides", but I say screw the upsides and good business, player loyalty is worth more to me than any of the justifications.

That's my opinion ... let me choke on it.

It's killing me that I wasn't able to go this game in person.  I'm one of those people that was willing to suffer through another frustrating season with an aging team and delay a rebuild just to see PP and KG retire in green.

dont show something that boston fans WANT to see and then show the same Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ty clips they play 500 times a day.

Am I still a tough guy if I cry tonight?

yes

KG has been my favorite NBA player period , since Bird .   It may be tuff  on me too. :'(

Pierce and KG being on another team

Just will never feel right. To me anyway

 :'(.........more tears

definitely my favorite celtic since larry legend as well. To only have two favorites over that long of a span is HUGE. It means a lot.

Yup.......was weird how devoted i was to watching KG  on a team I
Had no interest really , but I would stay glued to the TV when he was on....i kept the faith one day somehow he'd be a Celtic and return them to their glory days.  How many years I watched KG and Celtics struggle , and finally having them together was a basketball dream come
true .

That whole team in the 80's was very special to me. Larry, Chief, McHale, Ainge, and especially DJ. I really liked DJ.

RIP.  :'(

Special to me too. :) I still got the Larry Bird poster hanging.

I love that Tommy keeps calling Johnson "that kid", as if he's been frozen in time since the trade with Phoenix.
