I've heard Parker being compared to Glenn Robinson.  Would you settle for that?  Someone who was a big time scorer in college, very good scorer in the pros but maybe not what you call a franchise player.  If we land him I hope he's more Pierce/Melo than Robinson.

It's too bad Stern isn't running this draft, because if he were I would be expecting us and the Lakers to get picks 2 & 3, then each pick one of Wiggins and Parker.  That would be an awesome rivalry for the next 20 years, but alas it's not rigged anymore.   :'(

Getting Big Dog as your worst case scenario (I assume) is not bad at all.

This draft is still loaded with talent, even if these guys dont reach their potentials, theyd still be good NBA players.

2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

I still dont get why ppl are so high on parker. Does defensive capabilities not count anymore?

Since when did Parker become such a horrid defender? Have you seen him play? I think this is something that is way overblown and seems to be spewed by the masses.

In just 29 mpg, he's averaging 1.2 bpg, 0.9 spg, and 7.7 rpg. Albeit I don't know his exact defensive rebounding numbers.

Parker isn't as bad as people make him sound.

Duke just has a poorly put together roster.  No interior defensive presence.  They basically play a bunch of wings and guards.  It's rather 'positionless'.

As a Duke fan, I really do not like the team this year.  Very un-Duke-like, too many scorers and not enough facilitators.  And again, not a singe legit big.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
1. Embiid
2. Parker
3. Wiggins
4. Exum
5. Smart.

6. Randle
7. Vonleh

The top 3 is set and will go in something to that order. I put a 6/7 because they have a chance at cracking the top 5.

Your list is the same as mine with 1 difference in Randle/Exum.
Only thing I'd add is that I think Wiggins may drop out of the top 3 for Exum, Smart or Randle.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

He is mediocre. I've seen him score 20 a game but only to let the guy guarding him score 15-20 also

I'm not expecting him to shut the other guy down, but too many times i've seen other players able to blow by and he doesn't have enough quickness to go around screens on time. PNR again, Parker has some issues.

I don't know actually if he can improve much more on defense as a sf. The effort is there, but it takes a sec to get moving. Could be mainly due to his body shape

If he could really strengthen up, prob better for him to play PF.  Though again this is where the tweener label comes in bc he is only 6'8, 7 ft wingspan and avg leaper ability.

For me, Wiggins is ahead of Parker. Wiggins has the body but needed to refine parts of his game. Already his jump and 3 pt shot has improved since the beginning of the year. Its really decent to the pt he can shoot it with a hand in the face. Once Wiggins becomes stronger he will be able to finish through contact better

Has their been talk of Randle going back to school? I know there has been for Embiid and Parker but I havent heard his name yet.

For everyone saying this years draft is stacked, if everyone stays another year next years could even be better.

How about this question and a nightmare for all celtics fans.

What IF Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Randle, Exum, Gordon all stay another year. Who goes #2 (assuming Smart goes #1)

If this is the case, tank year #2 for 2015?

No, but when making wild swing in the dark guesses, I like to go against the grain.

Another bumped thread from 2014 post tournament. Crazy how Nobody on the first page thought Wiggins would go #1.

I wasn't sold on him either, and Embiid just looked awesome before the injuries. I didn't have Smart in my top five. Gave Randle his props and bad-mouthed his Turnovers, and bought in to the Exum hype train.
