Why for Houston: get their first round pick from New York, Bass+Lee+Hinrich improve their rotation balance, and they avoid to pay 30M (16M against the cap) to Asik+Lin. Over the next two years, Houston saves around 12M.
Why for Chicago: avoid to amnesty Boozer, who is good but is blocking their future (Mirotic and Gibson plus Deng's extension). They get an emergency PG in Felton, and 17M in expirings. Charlotte's pick will be in the late teens/20s.
Why for New York Knicks: Get rid of Stoudamire and get Lin back to play the point, ship Shumpert and Felton off and get probably the best player in the trade in Boozer. They also have to take on Wallace, but Stat's contract is worse and they can't amnesty him.
Why for the Celtics: first of all, saving 4M right off the bat. Then, a non-lottery but nice pick from Charlotte. Asik, who most here like a lot, and a couple of projects in Shump and Motiejunas. Stat is the worse contract in the NBA, but next year he'll be Ratliff 2.0. Bass/Lee/Hump/Wallace are nice contributors, so the overall talent takes a coup, but some losses now will become a better future.
If Danny can't make this happen... nobody can.
