Jazz say no immediately, they don't want any part of Wallace's deal.

What do you think the Celtics would have to do to make it more interesting for them?

There is a min salary requirement that Utah has to meet. Wallace can be an asset in that sense. A guy to shelve while they're playing young kids on rookie scale deals.
The Jazz pretty much cleared out their frontcourt for Favors and Kanter

It has failed. Kanter has been demoted to the bench in favor of Marvin Williams...

Tyrone Corbin + tank = Marvin Williams starting at PF.

I don't buy it. They were losing just fine with Kanter logging big minutes.

I just looked: Kanter is averaging 28 mpg a game, Williams 26. Favors is at 32.

Ya... What's your point? Kanter went from starting and getting minutes to coming off the bench and getting less minutes. Mpg is irrelevant.
The only color that matters is GREEN

Well, he's not getting less minutes than Williams.

In the last five games, sure, his minutes are down. His minutes have yo-yoed all season, likely a result of foul trouble.

Regardless, I see no reason why Utah trades a 21 year old big man for Gerald Wallace and Kelly Olynyk.

Wallace is going nowhere.  We're stuck with him for at least 2 years.

Humphries = Expiring contract this year
Bass = Expiring contracts next year
Wallace = Expiring contract the year after

Humph is tradeable this year... the other two become valuable as Theo Ratliff throw-ins over the next couple years.

Boston will not have cap space at any point in the foreseeable future.  Those contracts provide trade flexibility over the next few years... just gotta hang onto them until their moment comes.

Additionally we have

Bogans/Trade exception this year
Jeff Green next year
Courtney Lee the year after

Most of them will be stuck here unless we are able to utilize them as salary filler.
