Wouldn't mind the Celtics using one of their 1st round picks on this guy in 2015

Before I looked at that I was like "whatever, some random tall dude from a relatively unknown school.  If anything he's too tall and will just get hurt right away."  Then I watched that video and don't think I've ever seen anything like that before.  That dude is gigantic

And he moves pretty well, especially for someone relatively new to basketball.

I'm not sure about this guy he's too slow and he could get injured with that size but if  it is a late 1st round/ early 2nd round.

that is my thoughts exactly. I am afraid of injury for someone that big. And something about drafting raw players scares me - see Fab Melo

I'm pretty sure I saw a video of this kid last year. He surprised me with his coordination and footwork in the other video. In this video, not much too see. One thing that is striking is that he is not skinny. Most kids that age who hit 7 feet are thinner.

I think Hibbert's success will make people doubt him less due to his foot speed. Hibbert fell in the draft due to foot speed concerns, but he is part of one of the best defenses in the league.

I'm not sure that 'raw'-ness is something to focus on here considering that guys his size don't have to be that developed to start in the NBA. So long as he can catch the ball, time blocks, have a mind for the game, and shoot a layup, he can do a lot of damage. This is also not an Olowakandi who started playing organized ball in college. This kid has been playing a while.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
This kid is big.

He doesnt look like he moves awkwardly as well. And the foot speed doesn't really concern me because of this.

Quote
his wingspan was measured at an incredible 8-1 at the 2012 Amar'e Stoudemire Skills Academy.

I mean he may be slow footed to defend the pick and roll, but with that kind of length he can have a bit of space with the ball handler and still be long enough to bother shots off the PnR.

If he indeed continues to play like this, why not.

If by 2015 he looks to be developed to a point where he is a 1 year nba project them def worth a first. The issue is these super tall players are so injury prone that drafting him and spending 2-3 years developing him leaves very little real on court production time.
