It's not technically "Opening Night", but what a great first day of league-wide play.  Lots of good games and big performances.

Seriously.

Howard, Durant, Love, MCW, Bynum's unexpected start.  Pretty wild.

Kevin Durant really might average 40 while Westbrook is out.

Boozer continuing his hot shooting--4/5 at the end of the first quarter.

Great putback by Gibson to finish it off. Chicago up by ten.

And A'mare's actually on the court. Or else someone's in a very convincing Halloween costume.

Oh, it's Amare.  Why do you think Carlos Boozer is four for five?

As in five shots, four makes.

I'm all for easing Amare back in, so long as it doesn't take any time away from Tyson Chandler or Melo at PF, the only two reasons NY is a top team.  He should only be taking bench time away from Bargs or KMart.
Philly:

David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa

Man, Noah is very lucky his teammates have such good hands, otherwise he wouldn't average a single assist.  Seems like his only idea of a good pass is a one handed bullet over the top of the defense.

Clippers look fairly individualistic offensively. Lack of cohesion. Too much one-on-one. Minimal ball movement. Making themselves easy to defend in the halfcourt.

Loving DeAndre Jordan's effort on the offensive glass.

I don't like this Warriors second unit

C: J.O'Neal
F: Speights
F: Draymond Green
G: K.Thompson
G: T.Douglas

They gotta stagger those substitutions better and keep another starter (or two) on the floor. Nowhere near enough offensive talent. Far too much pressure on Klay Thompson. A couple of really limited guys in T.Douglas and J.O'Neal and to a lesser extent Draymond Green (when at SF). Speights as the second option? Not good.

Yet they have 36 points after 12 minutes of play.  The Clippers probably ran more 1 on 1 isolation and isolated pick and rolls than anybody else in the league last year.  Doc respects how the players want to play more than most coaches, he's a "player's coach."

I have high hopes for the Warriors.  I think getting an elite defender and another playmaker in Iguodala was a huge improvement, although Bogut will be an x factor in either direction.  Speights and Barnes will have to carry the bench scoring as well (doable).

Ryan Hollins and BJ Mullens on the floor together is hilarious.

I like Doc coming back with D.Jordan quickly in the 2nd. Those two guys are too bad to be playing alongside one another. Need to keep one of B.Griffin or D.Jordan on the floor as much as possible.

Breaking: Steph Curry, good 3 point shooter.

He hit one, per Reggie, "from the S in the Staples Center logo. That's a 26 foot shot!"

CP3 is having his way with GS. 25 and 9 on 8-14 with three steals... and we've got 17 minutes of basketball left.

Make that 25-11 with 5 steals.

Turning into a blowout.

Make that 25-12.

Three straight turnovers into thunderous Paul>Griffin dunks. Three dunks in 32 seconds.

Ok. It's a 13 point game with 9 minutes left, but the only reason it's even that close is because Golden State is knocking down a barrage of threes.

Paul now with a 34-2-14-5
Curry with 30-3-7, 8-11 from deep.

Curry's 9-12, and the foul.

I really hope I'm not the only one watching this game.

You aren't, my friend.

Curry's hands down the best shooter in the league.
